selecting download location in Firefox

Hi,
I am using Firefox on my Windows 7 PC.
I wondered if there is any mechanism that allows different types of files to be automatically downloaded to a particular file location depending on the type of file being downloaded? For example, PDF files to a certain file location, video to a separate file location etc.
I know that I have the option to select a default download location or opt to be prompted where each file should be saved but I wondered if it is possible to pre-select the download file automatically by file type?
