Singers/bands who's music depresses you?

This is inspired by the recent Mumford and Sons, where I described their music as music-to-slit-your-wrists-by...and many others agreed!

Are there any singers or bands who make you feel like that? Who you actively recoil from because you can't bear the ridiculous, long-winded, samey misery of their music and/or their voices?

Bob Dylan is another I can't bear to listen to. I like some of his songs, but only when covered by good singers who put a new twist on their sound.

How about you?

Have to agree about Bob Dylan - can't understand why his music is so loved by people of all ages.

The Smiths hate their music with a passion same goes for Morrissey their lead singer.

Not too keen about Katie Melua either especially that song
Crazy. That song would put you over the edge

Pretty much anything released by the current bunch of Pop poppets doing the rounds.

Don't agree with the Smiths, brilliant stuff

Agreed. The state of some of todays chart music could tip me over the edge.

I like "deep" music, which could be though of as misery by some, but I just couldn't bear listening to artists Mumford and Sons or Bob Dylan because to me they go beyond misery and I think would make me literally suicidal if I HAD to listen to their music for more than a few minutes. Different strokes for different folks. :)

Rhianna is the worst offender in this respect.

How many producers?, an example of conveyor belt pop at it's worse.

I'd imagine that the track have all been recorded & then they call Rhianna up to do the vocals.

I've never found The Smiths or Radiohead depressing.
Most Smiths songs are quite jaunty and lyrically funny.
It all depends on the baggage you take with you.
It's A Wonderful Life is the happiest film ever but can be depressing as hell if you miss the last 20 minutes.

Forget lazy stock answers like The Smiths and Radiohead: bad music depresses me, and there's plenty of that.
