Don't think it can be denied can it. The biggest benefactor from players jumping ship is Adams.
Nobody is denying that the guy can play darts but I would argue Scott waites winning one BDO title and a grandslam ranks higher than Adams multiple lakeside titles simply cos Waites won a big one against PDC players.
To be fair, the only people that Waites beat in the PDC of any note were RVB in the 2nd round and Wade in the final. He did beat Stompe, Beaton and Lewis, but Lewis was nowhere near his peak at that time, and Stompe and Beaton were just journeymen. ;-)
And anyway, if Beaton lost to Taylor in the quarters, then Taylor would have beat Waites in the semi and Scott would never have won the GSOD! ;-) Ha ha!
It's quite simply all about the money and TV exposure. If someone can get the BDO by the scruff of the neck, shake it about a bit, inject some cash and negotiate terrestrial TV deals for the World Masters and the BDO World Trophy (rather than Eurosport) then that would make a difference.
There was all that talk about Hearn offering £2m for the BDO, but that just reminds me of when WWE bought WCW. They'll buy the assets, use them as a feeder company for a year or two, and then just close it all down.
There doesn't need to be a merger of the two, there just needs to be some bridges rebuilt, but unfortunately some individuals on both sides of the divide are just too stubborn and stuck in their ways to do something about it.
I agree with everything you say, especially on the wwe and wcw comparison if hearn got hold of the BDO. God help darts if the PDC ever bought them
Whats the BT viewing figures like in general not just darts? Is it a good alternative to sky?

You do talk some cobblers.
Did you see his performance last night ? Outstanding. He is older than Taylor and how many people say "his best days have gone" ? He is 58 why would he want to move up the PDC now ? He has his own reasons for not playing the GSOD and you have to respect that.
Adams has played PDC events and has played against, and beaten, everyone there is to beat. Waites achievements aren't in the same league

No idea to be honest mate. Think the top rated programmes on BT 2 gets about 50,000. Will be more on BT 1 because that has the premier league so you're looking at around 850,000-1,000,000.

If you were to stick Mitchell & Adams averages in the final after 9 sets and compare it against the averages of the PDC last 16 then you have some interesting reading which goes some what against your viewpoint:
G Anderson 104.54
M Smith 102.78
Wright 102.6
Taylor 102.52
Bunting 102.34
van Gerwen 99.62
Reyes 98.52
A Lewis 97.55
K Huybrechts 96.93
Jenkins 96.92
Thornton 96.5
van der Voort 93.9 MITCHELL 93.3
ADAMS 92.37
van Barneveld 92.23
Winstanley 91.36
Hamilton 90.94
van de Pas 89.35
If Martin Adams was a PDC player then he would be a Hamilton, Jenkins, Thornton type player i.e. A Top 20 player capable of beating anyone on his day, and reaching a handful of finals per year, and winning the occasional tournament, but certainly not a Top 6 player.

And yet RVB is a 5 time champion, reached the semi finals this year and is in the PL, but going off what you are saying, he's not as good as Mitchell and Adams. ;-)
Just goes to show that averages don't mean everything, no matter how many people seem to obsess over them!

Why choose their final averages and compare them to non final averages ??????? Has to be the daftest argument on DS. Why not use Adams semi final average ?? is it because it is better than 3/4 of the players ?
All these top players on both sides can play to a 100 avarage if they need too. Most of the players above adams and mitchell played in the BDO in the last decade and they played at the same standard when there as adams if not worst. These players up their game when they move to the PDC. They get used to playing on TV nearly every month, its not just because they are more gifted players

Well when you move to the PDC it becomes your full time job. Scott Mitchell is a farmer, now that isn't light work is it ? He plays darts on a weekend. Not a bad standard for a part timer. People forget that there are very few professionals in the BDO hence the word Professional does NOT appear in this events title.

Indeed and i agree with you. Even the PDC fanboys BDO golden boy waites works as a carpenter if im not mistaken?

I suppose that's it. They don't have enough incentive to improve their level if there's only a couple of tournaments worth doing. Also most of them are going back to be joiners and fishmongers rather than concentrating on their darts!

It's called the World Professional Darts Championship, Darren.

lol
schedule now messed up
He has his reasons for not doing it. Reasons that I don't personally agree with, but it's his decision at the end of the day.
But then again, it's not just Adams, part of it is Hearn too.
