Not entirely surprised by that decision, now that Global have taken over.
I wonder how much christmas music they will broadcast on Smooth Radio itself this year?
If Heart is a barometer, get past Remembrance Sunday/Nov 11th whichever is the later and the Phil Spector and Now Christmas will be rotated in on a ramp up.
Then all taken off 27th December, 3rd day of Christmas.should see the songs taken out.
Would prefer they waited until the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November...Black Friday.
I missed all of Casey Kasems Xmas shows last year on Smooth 70s and several specials on Smooth. Does anyone know if any of the American stations usually carry these specials
Not sure if this is genuine or not but this was posted on the Smooth Radio Facebook page this morning, " by a poster not by smooth" I can't find anything on the website confirming this???
"We have some exciting news for you... can you hear the sound of jingle bells? Probably, as we're pleased to announce that Smooth Christmas - the UK’s first and only pure Christmas radio station - is set to return for a third year on 01 November.
Smooth Christmas will be launched on the digital radio platform Digital One on Thursday. The station will be dedicated to playing Christmas tunes 24/7, providing listeners with the soundtrack to Christmas cheer right from the start of preparations through until the end of Boxing Day. This year, numerous Smooth Radio favourites will be hosting shows in the run up to December 25, including The Overtones, Michael Buble, Joe McElderry and Donny Osmond - plus Santa himself will be counting down his favourite hits in the Festive Forty on Christmas Day.
We don’t mean to panic you, but it's eight weeks until Christmas Day so it’s time to start embracing it!
We’ll be bringing you lots of Smooth Christmas news, quizzes and videos in the coming weeks, so keep checking back for all the festivities!
Are you pleased to hear that Smooth Christmas is returning? Let us know via the comment box below."
