The trailer for it looks quite funny.

Saw a clip from this on The Wright Stuff yesterday and it looks really good. Unless they've used the only decent scene in the trailer like some films do.

Big in the 70s, when he wrote several more, reviving the character from an initial one-off book from back in the 1930s.

Two '30s books actually. 'The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm' (1933) and 'Professor Branestawm's Treasure Hunt' (1937).

I read the 1970s ones when I was at school. I'd forgot all about the character until I saw the trailer. Looking forward to it.

I remember reading the books when I were a lad and almost peeing myself with laughing so much. Surprised it's on so late; I thought they would have aimed it at a younger audience, but it would porbably be lost/wasted on todays children with their new-fangled computing machines and portable telephones.

I'll definitely be watching on Christmas Eve. I believe it's on about half-eight to half-nine, which seems oddly late for such a family-type programme that would largely appeal to kids.

Well, a huge part of the show is nostalgia, and the cast would be one that adults would appreciate. I actually think we'll end up with something along the lines of The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff Christmas special we had a few years ago... a sort of kid's show for adults, and I really believe it will be amazing.

As has been said, great cast, but should have been on CBBC.

That was a delightfully silly and idiosyncratically British programme. Bravo, I say.

Hopefully more of this will be made. We need more old fashioned nonsense like this.

Perfect for Christmas Eve, if on a little late. It was just a bit of daftness, and there's nowt wrong with daft.

...and no, it shouldn't have been on CBBC, it's Christmas Eve... it's for kids, but like I said... on a bit late.
