I'd completely forgot the video. It was widely regarded as her response to Jt's CMAR. plus the video caused quite a lot of controversy and really foreshadowed latter events.
I can't believe it's been 10 years! It's one of Britney's best ballads. She wrote and composed it herself. I like it better than Perfume from BJ. That song was pants. Did you know that the video wasn't even the original concept Britney wanted?

I think the video is quite sad when you consider it in the context of what happened in later years Still incredibly moving video and song though, definitely one of my favourite Britney songs.
ADORE that Britney album her first true "masterpiece" IMO adored how she mixed up the sounds/vibes/direction lyrically :-)
Everytime is a beautiful ballad...which has shown ten years on it still has power...the fact she wrote and composed it herself is definitely telling!
It is such a shame that label interferences get in the way of Britneys ideas these days...she creates such beautiful pop imagery ...do not limit her :-)

yeh the original concept Britney wanted was that she cut her wrists and bled to death but Jive didn't allow it because of the uproar they knew it would have caused. I remember only being in 1st year at high school and my pal who, like me, was a massive Britney fan came up to me saying 'oh my god john have you seen Britney's new video' and I said no thinking she was just gunna say how amazing it was and she said 'she commits suicide'. I actually thought she was joking and I laughed and was like yeh right. when I went home after school I watched it on the net and was gobsmacked. my mum was furious though saying it shouldn't be allowed on TV
Just rewatched the video for this. Forgot how powerful it was.
Arghhh Britney was SO fierce in 2004. She was absolutely killing it. So thirsty for a new hit record now to put her back on top.

Yeah she was still in her prime then. I watched some clips of the Onyx Hotel Tour and wow was she slaying! I wish she'd record another album like Blackout or In The Zone. We need another dark, edgy, raw, urban album from our Britney. It would make me happy and prove to the public that she isn't past it.

That's right. I remember reading about it. I think the idea was something to do with rebirth or reincarnation. The scene where she drowns herself in the bath is the saddest scene I've ever come across in a Britney video A real tearjerker of a song but still one of her best ballads. Is your mum a Britney fan or not? Or did she just not like that video?

I think the concept of the video that we did get was more powerful than the original especially in hindsight. Dogged by the paparazzi gets hit on the back of the head and drowns later on. so telling as more or less their persistent assault on her helped further her breakdown.

Plus also love the single cover
In sone ways it probably was and I wonder if the video forecasted her 2007 meltdown? I think that video and her song Lucky are very prophetic in that sense. Mona Lisa also tells a rather interesting story. I wonder if those songs predicted her meltdown? Yeah the Everytime single cover is nice  I think it suits the song somehow I need to put it on my wall or my Britney shrine which I'm planning to make
I think it's coincidence but in hindsight it is all very prophetic. And I think in some ways as with all young stars it's unfortunately inevitable.
And you should do it's a beautiful cover shot, Along with the album cover.
Yeah it is. As much as I love Britney, I will admit she became famous too young. She was only 17 when BOMT was released. Before that she was on the Mickey Mouse Club on the US Disney Channel. It happens with all child stars I think I will. Maybe I should make a poster of it and the In The Zone album cover
Exactly at her age most people are getting ready for uni and there she was thrust into the limelight. Everytime was when she was 22 ish and already signs of her cracking were evident just look at the video

I was still at school at 17. College wasn't yet on my radar but I had been thinking about it. I wasn't originally gonna do law! Exactly. Maybe the video was a prediction of what would happen in 2007? It's rather spooky to be honest
I keep saying she needs to do a ballad album like Madonna did with something to remember. It would be easy for her to promote, she wouldn't be criticised for her below par dancing and she can sing ballads live well....I think it would be huge for her to do that.

That would certainly be a good idea. Imagine the new fans she would gain if she did that. She needs to do more ballads like Everytime, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (I love singing along to this one and belting out the chorus ) and her unreleased ballads Strangest Love, Everyday and Baby Boy. It would be an interesting change for Britney. My favourite Britney ballads are (in no order):
Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know
Everytime
I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman
Why Should I Be Sad
I Run Away
Out From Under
E-Mail My Heart (cheesy I know )
Criminal (is that a ballad?)
Strangest Love
Everyday
Baby Boy
(To Love) Let Go
State of Grace
The last five are unreleased. What are you guys' favourite Britney ballads?
Well I guess it depends on the song. I normally prefer upbeat songs but some of Britney's ballads are good as well. I forgot about When I Found You. Perfume is pants to be honest. I like her vocals on it but the song itself is just dull.

I miss Ballard britney
When 'Britney Jean' was being hailed as being truly personal etc etc I really did hope we'd get songs in the vein of Everytime... it wasn't to be

How do we do that? Do we all download it like crazy?

Easy! Ballads aren't her strongest point for me, but she's definately had a few corkers

Out From Under
Perfume
Everytime
I'm not a girl, not yet a woman
When I Found You
Baby Boy
