I got the idea from the male dominated thread for this as we have had some fantastically talented women in the genre and I want to celebrate them. Let's keep the debate to the other thread and celebrate those women here.
Feel free to post from any rock based genre or sub genre (nothing is off limits). I want to see solo females, all female bands, or bands with prominent female musicians/vocalists.
I will start with some of my favourites
Stevie Nicks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzsf72lYLo0
Ann Wilson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gpNqB4dnT4
Chrissie Hynde http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG9CvKfULIg
Natalie Merchant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKh1ZRyrQXY
Leah Marie King http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G74fqWRTQ-Y
Lynne Jackaman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l40x_DCn_vw

The list is really endless. All my favourite alternative and indie groups are fronted by women!
Cherri Bomb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB2ELkIzWQ0 (Rather good cover of The Pretender)
Stonefield http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wv2lxPrKq4

I first saw Within Temptation when they supported Iron Maiden @ Twickenham in 2008v and I've been a fan ever since. Really looking forward to seeing them @ Wembley Arena in April, the support band for the tour, with the equally lovely Charlotte Wessels, are very good too...
Delain - The Gathering
Keeping to the Symphonic Metal theme, here are some more...
Leaves' Eyes - My Destiny
Arven - Believe
Nightwish (with Tarja Turunen) - Ghost Love Score
Nightwish (with Floor Jansen) - Storytime
Amberian Dawn - Arctica
Pythia - The Circle
Winter In Eden - Torment
Ny Loose.
The Gits.
7 Year Bitch.
The Breeders.
That Dog.
Surprising or not?
Fewer female rock fans I guess. I prefer male vocals anyway. Mostly baritones.
I'm happy to throw Patti Smith into the mix though

And Pagan Metallers Arkona

Chrissie Hynde (hugely underrated)
Sophie Ellis Bextor
Stevie Nicks
Cat Power (although clearly affected by other issues and inconsistent live, I still love her)
the lead singer from London Grammar
Mazzy Star's lead singer
Deap Vally
Sorry for the names that have escaped me.
There's also the Led Zeppelin female tribute band Lez Zeppelin and the Iron Maiden tribute The Iron Maidens, both of whom are worth a listen.
She is great. Then of course there is the infamous Courtney Love and their band Hole. This is their best song-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3dWBLoU--E

The 1997 live performance from The Dance is by far the best live version of the song.
A vastly underrated artist. Come to You is an amazing track.

Well got the girls on board. lol My work here is done.
Well not quite…you have all missed perhaps the greatest rock singer of all time.
And that's because she didn't always sing rock.
It's not Pat Benatar (worthy as she is) but Tina Turner…..It's Only Rock n'Roll after all!
I'm female too! You can't always tell by people's user names on here.
