We have seen jumps before about two weeks into September. The usual spike for soaps hasn't come yet.

Currently sill very warm still though.

Very interested in GMB's rating tomorrow.

Rare 9am ToTH - probably won't be seen again although if it performs OK it should return again for the 2015 General Election in May.

There has to be some truth in that. Very few programmes have got me watching so far this Autumn, certainly on BBC1 and ITV.

Who wants to watch generic tv shows when the warm weather is still with us, it is no surprise really. It is dark now at 8.00pm, but still pleasant out - city centres I see are booming with people. Personally aside from iPlayer I have hardly watched any tv this month so far..

Now in 6 weeks time it is Halloween - if ratings are still low (M-F) then schedulers will face a battle. Weekends are going to be fine of course - SCD, TXF, DA etc.....

BBC says Scotland Decides on BBC1 Scotland averaged a 40.6% share against STV's 14.8% share for its results programme.

That's very true, for me personally, between 7 to 11pm there is not one programme on the main channels that tempts me to turn with tv on.

Not surprised by that at all - as mentioned on another thread the STV coverage was so CHEAP looking - awful looking studio set with 2 guests squeezed onto a 2 seater couch, not bad presenting and guests but oh dear the whole thing looked as if it had been knocked up 30 minutes before transmission. Compare that to the BBC coverage:- assured, professional and a very good looking set - sweeping table, cameras, graphics etc... - miles ahead!

I thought the BBC's coverage was excellent, not just the networked BBC1 programme but the BBC Scotland one as well. Looked really good and I especially liked Jeremy Vine's virtual reality graphics, very inventive.

I thought the BBC Scotland coverage was best although as you say all the BBCs coverage was very good. Sky were bad - I mean what the hell was Kay Burley doing at the Glasgow count walking around all the time for no apparent reason.

I'm expecting a big win for the BBC at Breakfast, possibly over 2 million; the ITV/STV results programme and GMB outside Scotland were very poor, so was Sky.

Likely slowing the counting since she was standing very close to the counters so no doubt she caused a few to have to start again, no wonder Glasgow voted yes they trying to make sure she never came back again.

There should be nothing going on in the count that might distract the counters and she would be a distraction to an angel.

I assume that BBC Scotland Decides figure includes the separate BBC Scotland results programme so that presumably represents the majority of the 1.60 million. If the ITV figure includes Scotland it looks like a disaster for STV.

The standard overnights include all regional/national variations.

Remember, that 1.60m average is from 10.40 till 2 in the morning. Most people will have gone to bed long before then if they had work in the morning.

We got the BBC One Scotland share, do we have a rating, and peak rating?

Thanks. I'd be surprised if as much as half the audience was in Scotland but I could be wrong. I agree with Twitter; Huw Edwards much improved from previous live stints. Still cautious in his delivery but very fluent over a long shift, approaching Dimbleby status I feel.

Educating The East End is a disaster. It's only doing about half of what Educating Yorkshire was doing and doesn't seem to be doing any better (and maybe even worse) than Educating Essex which had much tougher competition and was considered a disappointment at the time.

Wonder why this one just hasn't caught fire like Yorkshire? The most worrying thing is that it's getting worse. It launched 2 weeks ago with 2.2m but is now at 1.6m, whereas I'm pretty sure Yorkshire launched with over 3m and stayed there.

At this rate I don't think they should bother with another one. It seems the public have had enough. No doubt C4 will commission a 26 part run for next year in response. :p

Dallas is likely going to be pushed back to 11pm as it's doing poorly compared to the rest of the lineup. Illegals did okay just 20,000 shy of 1m.

its been 16 years since the movie, I think the show can return without having to worry about it, Doctor Who kinda had to do the same with the US TV movie, which also had "limited success" and was not well liked by fans.

I think a straight remake (if good) will find favour with an auidence, without the movie getting in the way.

I think simply remaking the Peel and Steed era would be setting up it for failure, they need to see what made the original work well but also update it for modern audiences. I would rather it be a continuation of the original rather than a straight remake.

Consolidated for the first two episodes of both series, including +1

    Yorkshire: 4.76m (18.0%) / 4.63m (17.9%)
    East End: 3.13m (12.2%) / 2.59m (10.6%)

    A big drop.

I wonder if the East End was the wrong place to set the new series, I think Educating Scotland or Educating Northern Ireland would have given something a little different.

I thought that. Those might have worked better. I was convinced they'd go for Educating Merseyside which could have worked too.
