SJ isn't going to hang around the charts very long. It's not going to sell a lot. But for a buzz single, that doesn't really matter. The difference between being #1 and #2 in this case is pretty massive. Whereas for the next single, it's all about supporting the album and that needs more longevity.
Having heard two other tracks she has recorded, she could be in a very strong position. If Radio One backed her with this, then they'll most likely get behind a less divisive single. And with a high media profile, a #1 single to her name in addition to a less divisive single, commercial radio are likely to follow.
Of course, this all only works if the next singles have more widespread appeal. This kind of music won't sell 150,000 albums in week one, it'll need multiple hit singles (similar to Rihanna). Diana Vickers never had that. Once was a hit, but she never got that second hit.
