CORRIE soldier Gary Windass is to be kicked out of the Army in a hard-hitting storyline next year.
Gary (Mikey North) - who has post-traumatic stress after serving in Afghanistan - gets the boot after clobbering a policeman on a drunken night out.
A Corrie source said: "Gary is devastated when he is discharged from the Army. He pleads with his CO but is told they have no option."

Obviously still suffering post- traumatic stress disorder in the aftermath of his ordeal of seeing three mates blown up in Afghanistan, perhaps soldier boy Gary should have been left in his garden shed hideaway.
"There's mushrooms seen more daylight than him," dad Eddie darkly commented recently.
But after attacking his mum, dad and bolshie builder Owen, Gary has variously been described as being on "a short fuse" by Anna and, less appropriately, "a ticking bomb" by Owen.
Sadly, he explodes on Friday after a night out with troublemaker David Bratt. And it's yet another powerful performance by Mikey North as the broody and violent Gary as the police try to put him in their van and he goes berserk.
The army may want men who can fight, but not those engaged in their own private war...
