As was the DOS game "Willy the Worm" in the mid-80s. Loved that game when I was a kid.
King's Quest is worth a mention too from childhood, an early great RPG (before RPG meant hit points, xp and turn based combat!)
I like RPG's so I thought I'd check this out. Only downloaded it and played a for about 2 mins. I found a door and loved that you could choose to knock, examine for a description of it or shout to see if you got a responce.
Have you played any of the later ones? Are they any good or is it a case of the usual, they reuined it with the later games?

Played them all, I think.
I was about 5 when the first one came out for DOS, so it was a family game for us, something we'd work through together. The second, third, fourth and even fifth were all great, showing improvements in graphics, size and complexity as they went along - I remember the excitement of the next KQ coming out each time! Never a disappointment.
6 onwards I don't think I carried on with, but I can vouch for certainly 2, 3 and 4 as being great games.
The first one I've seen completed in about 20 minutes (when you know what you're doing) but they get much longer and more complicated as you go along.

I'll have a better look at them soon. I haven't looked too much into it and not sure if you're interested but I saw somewhere when I googled the game that there is one coming out next year.
Playing that brief couple of means brought back memories of playing a game called The Realm Online. It's still going to this day with 2D graphics, point and click movement and very basic specs.
