I just tried to download a Youtube clip, it was taking ages to load, nothing was happening... then a few minutes later the save to disc balloon came up. Clicked ok... and it downloaded completely in a flash

I have not had chance to install an alternative browser yet, mainly on the premise of..why the hell should I? This is just an utter p***- take on the part of those responsible. It's been like this now for weeks - weeks, and still, nothing is being done about it.
It's almost as thought it's deliberate. Why IE? I use v6.0 on Windows XP + SP2, BTW. There's been no patch I am aware of to address the issue..and IE worked fine before, so yes..I am of the opinion that this is being done deliberately. Hmm..what next, YT: make us pay for the service we were getting before these issues kicked in?
I will inevitably have to install more browser software, because this does not look like it's going to be fixed soon. I will report back with my findings.
Still got the same issues, so this has been going on now for..months. If I had a pound for every person this must be p*****g off I'd be a rich man.
Tried everything I can think of, and know it's futile..an AOL friend in the same town has the same problem, which developed at the same time. Every other site is fine.
YT even crashes the browser on my new machine when viewing pages with lots of comments..that's unless you wait for it to play catch-up. Opera does not crash but has the same frustrating delays.
Yeah Youtube has been so slow for me I am thinking of boycotting the site and asking for a refund on my account. Dailymotion is so much better and loads faster. What terrible service.

I'm having to use the blueyonder webcache to speed YouTube up to a workable service.

It's been allowed to cache before you started the download off.
But why the IE-related issue?

Now, which browser/s work best with YT...?

Evening throttling, usage cap, traffic management, they must be laughing all the way to the bank
aka AOL, BT
However it depends on which video you click on ;-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s04xvwILcCM
...this one is very slow (10 to 20KBytes/sec for me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDEdWhs-Ozk
...whereas this one is fast (130 KBytes/sec average)
I am on Blueyonder Virgin 2Mbit/sec cable and Motorola SB5100 modem.
The slow video / fast video problem above is reproducable over and over.
Anyone have a clue what the solution is?
BTW I think it's simply the servers at Youtube. The 1st vid. above is from 'NYC 181' server, the 2nd video comes from 'MIA V75' server...
Cheers,
LSM.
Yup, same here. I'm on Sky Broadband.
