general question , what is the furthest you have ever traveled by walking or running or jogging or cycled?

mine would be about 6.2 miles from college to my house which takes about 2 hours.

Furthest I've ever ran, jogged and walked would be the NYC Marathon which nearly bloody killed me. Cycling, I do a 30 mile ride two or three times a week.

I walked 18 miles in the Lake District in one day. I think that must be the furthest.

Cycled about 170 miles over two days for charity back in about 1989. And walked about 14 miles plus a climb of Arthur's Seat a couple of years ago.

I would often go out cycling all day Sunday, during ny late teens and into my early 20s. As well as 'training' runs a few nights a week.
120 miles on the Sunday, and a total of 250 miles for the week, weren't uncommon - sometimes more.
Also went on cycling/camping holidays in the Lake District, Scotland, or occasionally abroad in Europe.
I honestly couldn't say what was the longest distance I've done in the same day, but it would certainly be in excess of 120 mls, maybe close to 150.

I've also done some of the well-known Tour de France hillclimbs, as I mentioned in this thread..

    Walking - 13 miles, running - 10 miles, cycling - 90 miles.

My best feat was working a 10 hour shift involving much walking over hills etc followed by a 60 mile bike ride. Those days are long gone though.

45 miles on the (exercise) bike.

Seeing as that doesn't count, about 15 miles walking.

I have cycled around 90 miles quite frequently but not lately. 12 miles (off road) once a week or so is all I can manage now.

I did once walk 40 miles in a day when i was about 18 must have been completely mad.

Did about 24 miles of the 40+ mile Keswick to Barrow charity walk about twenty years ago. Some people actually run that event. That's Lake District roads, for most of the distance, and makes the London Marathon look look easy.

Blimey! Is that it? 5 miles would be a short bike ride for me.
