Those girl bands who came and went....

Which girlbands from memory can you remember that had short lived careers?

Smoke2Seven - three girls who were not the best looking women (my sister abused them on their official forum and the girls responded) had two singles in 2002 and 2003 with "Been There Done That" (#27) and "Envy" (#77)

TSD - I ALWAYS thought they were called TSB after the bank lol! Used to perform a lot on TCC and one of the members was a pre-Steps Claire Richards! Had two songs in 1996 which failed to make the top 40 with "Baby I Love You" and "Heart And Soul". The former was a cover of a 1960s song and the latter owed a lot to Modern Talking "Heart and Soul":

I can vaguely remember Smoke2Seven. What an odd name.

Looking through my cassettes(!) from that sort of era, I've recalled Bardot, Sister2Sister, Precious, Solid HarmoniE, 3LW, Dream, M2M, Fierce Girl Thing and Hepburn who I particularly liked. And Mis-Teeq, of course, but they were more successful.

I can remember a few short-term groups from a bit later too, like Frank, Booty Luv, Love Bites, The Faders, The 411...

The Faders - where they the ones who had a TV show (used to be on T4 on a Sunday afternoon circa 2005/2006) and one of them was Midge Ure's daughter?

Love Bites were OK, but very immature. Came from Coventry - I was living there at the time with my first bf and there was always noise about them in the local press.

Loved the 411 - have their album, shame they never had any more success and split after that :(

Mini Viva, Paradiso Girls, Girls Cant Catch and The 411 are probably the only ones that I care about.

I could have got into Parade, RuffDiamondz and SoundGirl but they didn't last long enough.

I would include Girlicious too but to me theyre so iconic.

You're right about the Midge Ure bit, but the TV show girl band was Frank.

Love all of these, especially Frank. Devil's Got Your Gold is one of my all time favourite girl band albums.

    Some of my other favourites:

    BG5 a.k.a. Y.LA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhmpvkTWyCU

Love Generation a.k.a. Stockholm Syndrome (I'm guessing they've split): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBzn7CbhuRM

    Precious

I remember them. Jenny Frost from Atomic Kitten was once a member and they were the UK's Eurovision entry in 1998 or 1999 (can't remember exact year).

I was going to, but then I forgot  I think they only had one single.

Thunderbugs, Fred & Roxy and Bellefire at least.

Oh yes, and CNBC I liked Precious' 2000 hit Rewind. Madasun were around briefly then too.

They were in my aforementioned collection twice  Their Eurovison entry 'Say It Again' from 1999 and the follow-up 'Rewind'.

I really liked Madasun! 'Walking On Water' and especially 'Feel Good' were favourites of mine in 2000.

I really think N-Tyce, Blaque Ivory, Solid HarmoniE, Precious, Cleopatra, Frank and The 411 could've faired a hell of a lot better if they were managed better. They had great potential.

Thanks. I get the two mixed up. The Faders "No Sleep Tonight" was a fab single.

I think Clea only released 2 singles and possibly an album in the UK, although they continued to release things in other countries I believe.

I still listen to "Don't You Worry" all the time....it is timeless with that awesome guitar riff:cool:

LOL! One of them sounded like five! Awful song that was.

Lemonscent were another forgotten girl band. They came from Scotland, and I remember three songs by them:

"Help Me Mama" - the guy looks like a crackhead in Glasgow, the Mum was probably her Dad and had the op:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbhGTylaVtQ

"Cinderella" - Not on YT, but it was a dancey type track

"Uncoditional Love" - I believe this was disqualified from the charts due to rigging!

Bewitched, were big in 1998 but were gone two years later. Also going further back, the Belle Stars showed real promise with their cover of The Clapping Song in 1982, but split up two years later.
