The Strawberry Scandal storyline in Corrie has reminded me that I had not heard the Strawbs' 1977 single Back in the Old Routine for a while. So I listened to it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zo7kj1SHtQ
I found this the other day while browsing through youtube - Lines by The Planets from 1979. It only got number 36. It should have got much higher imo.
Anyone remember it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t21MVCrvhOQ

It's been 5 years since I last posted to this thread and 3 years since anyone else did, so another post from me, or anyone else, would not be before time!
This was a huge American hit, but didn't chart on this side of the Atlantic. It's a bit cheesy, but I quite like it:-
Anyone remember a single I bought on the Casablanca label: Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You by Teri De Sario, from summer 1978? I remember Tony Blackburn loved it and played it a lot. Got to only No.56 in the charts.
Another favourite of mine and one I bought after hearing it on Radio 1 but sadly it didn't chart. I just love Sail The Summer Winds by ex New Seeker Lyn Paul. Was the theme to the film The Dove in 1974.
I heard this on the radio yesterday, a great song by Neil Sedaka but it wasn't easy to find a copy to buy - I had to scour through all the CDs for sale on Amazon as it wasn't available digitally. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VtcoTXQksw
A sweet tribute to The Beatles from Barclay James Harvest's fifth album (1975) incorporates their titles in the lyrics and samples some of their songs.
A few weeks ago I brought the equivalent sixties thread out of hibernation, which proved to be a popular move, as others subsequently chose to post and that thread has remained on or close to Page 1 of the forum ever since.
I think it's about time to bring this thread out of hibernation too, and hope that this proves to be an equally popular move.
Nice to see this thread finally up and running. I generally prefer sixties music to seventies music, so I'm likely to give priority to the other thread, but I'll still do my best to contribute to this one as often as I can. Anyway, here's my initial selection:-
Status Quo - Gerdundula (1971)
Just prior to finding the “definitive Status Quo sound” that we all know and love (or perhaps loathe), the band were making some very “interesting” music, of which this real gem is a prime example.
The Stranglers - Get A Grip On Yourself (1977)
My favourite single of the entire seventies is “No More Heroes” and my favourite single of the entire eighties is “Golden Brown”, so it’s fairly obvious that I absolutely love this band. This track was their very first single.
Elvis Costello - Alison (1977)
This is my favourite track by the great Elvis Costello, but I thought it might be a little too well known for this thread. However, having just done some research, I discovered to my surprise that when it was released as a single it failed to chart, so perhaps it's not as well known as I thought it was.
Above is the first post I ever made to this thread in September 2010. A long time ago!
If you click on the link for Alison by Elvis Costello you'll be able to listen to that fabulous track. However, if you click on the other two links you won't be able to listen to either Status Quo or the Stranglers because, regrettably, the originally supplied video clips are now unavailable on Youtube.
We can't have that, can we? Below you'll find links to two replacement video clips.
