Vampire Diaries S6 - US Pace Discussion

Well, the Mystic Falls crew are back, along with (I expect) two or three new characters; at least I expect them to be reoccurring. I thought it was a fairly good start, though I'm beginning to tire of the whiny Elena - haven't we been here before - countless times?

It does seem like a big reset for some of them though, especially Tyler. He's still got his rage, and his act now, ask questions later attitude. He's bound to reactivate his curse before long, though he'll only be a Werewolf then, no more Hybrid. Jeremy appears to be on rebound too.

The most interesting thing for me, was the last scene. Anyone care to speculate? I would speculate that they've been relocated somehow, though why they're remained absent Mystic Falls is unknown. Either that, or they're in some sort of Purgatory.

Season 5 was dire imo. Hope it gets back on track. Also think Elena has become totally unlikeble.

Bit of a mess I thought, the usual plot exposition by every character still grates. Soon as the scene with Damon and Bonny started I expected Captain Kirk and Picard to walk in for their pancakes too.

Really have no idea how they are going to string this series along.

It was messy, I'll not deny that, but I think they were trying (a little too hard) to show us where everyone was after the four months since Bonnie and Damon died, and since everyone (bar Matt & Jeremy) are banned from Mystic Falls. I forgot to mention earlier too, but Alaric; he's essentially a fully fledged Original now, right?

Hah, that would have been epic!

They've managed for five years. :p

Yeah, a lot of 6.1 felt like a show run out of steam, but I did enjoy the pleasingly daft ending.

I was like meh. Tyler is angry omg that's new. Caroline same, Elena, yes you've lost you know grief how many times did they throw them lines down our neck.

And wth, was the last scene were they in come purgatory or are they in the twilight zone... Either way super lame.

I don't care about Jeremy. Or his emotional distress,

It was just awful. I've been a long time fan and I'm getting really bored with it.

At this point I don't think they should be even teasing they might kill off Elena/Stefan/Damon/Bonnie/Caroline/Matt/Jeremy (& Klaus on The Originals) as clearly those characters aren't going anywhere.

Weirdly, and I can't imagine how it would happen, but I read a theory on that somewhere the other day that stated they'd been thrown back in time. Something to do with the setting, clothing and background, though that could be the writer of that review looking into it too much.

Upon further thought though, I don't think they're in purgatory or whatever. I think they're simply just somewhere else.

Well, technically they've already killed Damon and Bonnie. ;-)

Klaus? Why Klaus? He's grown a lot from the Originals, and he's likely to grow a whole lot more (especially now that he's a father).

I was excited for this coming back but it was just boring and im finding it hard to like or care about any of the characters at this point.

Season 5 was awful and i know we have had only 1 episode of season 6 but i cant really see where it's going now.

I think the show misses the originals (i dont watch that) and katerina

you're missing out it is far superior to TVD especially what it has become in the last couple of years, I couldn't put myself through season 5 and checked out half way through, doppleganger yeah yeah never heard that before.

Episode left me feeling flat, tbh, and while it's nice that they're out of Mystic Falls for some fresh scenery I can't see that lasting long.

Damon needs to come back asap, because even though we saw him at the end I find Bonnie a chore and the thought of those two rattling around on the other side for most of the season turns me cold.

Still think half the cast are unnecessary now, Tyler, I'm looking at you. The show needed a cull last season but all we got was everyone back from the dead and more. I think it's the first season opener that made me depressed for a show I loved so much.

Oh you really should. It's much better, darker, grittier and less whiny (Elena).

It was a bit depressing for an opener and didn't really allude to any planned direction for the season. I really hope they have a plan because last season felt like they were just winging it with every episode. I'm glad that the Twins have stuck around though and with the addition of Ric too it has given the show some much needed characters. They killed off so many iin the first few seasons that season 5 struggled I think with the lack of cast. Which is why I'm glad they have these new/returning cast members and why I think last season was so reliant on dopplegangers. I still think they need a few more extras lilke the Sheriff and parents who take part and speak to give depth to the setting that way we aren't lumped with main cast in every scene. Hopefully the doctor will be added to the list too because it seemed like Sheriff overload this episode to be the main cast relief.

Also, did I totally zone out at the start? Sheriff comes along, busts the two kids for drinking, walks them to the car outside the town limit then Elena attacks, Sheriff is nowhere to be seen....She is having lunch with Caroline and gets a call and knows nothing of the attack or subsequent attack on the New Yorker. Was that just bad writing? Imposter? or is she working with Elena to lure people to their deaths and being compelled to forget?

Oh and as for the ending, could be heaven? Seemed to be bright enough and heaven is always shown as having a poor carbon footprint when it comes to lighting. Don't think it was purgatory, wasn't nearly grey enough or forest laden...

The Sheriff caught them drinking (and you know what) and told them to pack up. She didn't actually escort them to their vehicle.

I'd hope not. If they start playing with Heaven, Hell, Angels and Demons they might as well combine the show with Supernatural and have Castiel return Damon and Bonnie to Mystic Falls, all whilst smiting Elena for crying all the time.

Now.. pretty sure I read a fanfic that has that exact premise lol :D

Maybe the writers are really running out of ideas. Personally I think its time to put the Vampire Diaries to rest.

Sam Dean and Bobby need to pay a visit to Mystic Falls and end it all. Its become a shadow of the show it was IMO

Hah, well it wasn't me that wrote the fanfic, but I'd pay to see it happen. ;-)

I'm not quite sure about Bobby, but yeah, Sam and Dean need to kill them all. Bring the show to a conclusion.

Though, just because he's practically an original now, Alaric can jump over to the Originals Show. He'll be like the long lost brother they didn't know they had. :p

Ahh, them two. Hah. They're obviously so important that I forgot about them. I actually thought fletch meant to say brothers.

Considering how poor the damn writing is lately in Vampire Diaries, I am tempted to write a fanfic myself along those lines. Damon and Alaric being the only survivors and they can jump to the originals.

Yeah. That would be better :p

Throw Enzo in there (I thought he was suppose to be back anyway?) and you've got yourself a deal.

...and maybe that recently arrived New York lass, provided she doesn't change her attire. ;-)

Edit: And Caroline, cause her character has actually grown on me, and there's chemistry between her and Klaus. There would further be rivalry between her and Camille.

THey are twins aren't they? or was her comment of "our twin powers don't work like that. You need to apologise to him yourself" to do with a shared magic link or something.
I dunno, I just based it off that line that they were twins and a flickering light that tells me they mentioned something similar last season about being twins. Could be making it up.

Somehow I could totally see Castiel saying something like
[in a deadpan tone] "Why are you crying so much? You should stop that"
Then freaking out about it, touching her forehead and zapping her to the middle of the Sahara or something.
"Her face would not stop leaking"
Bless! She does cry a lot does our Elena. Hopefully we get her happy once Alaric makes her forget but it strikes me as repeating the Jeremy instance over again and she will remember eventually once people talk about him. Or Ric won't do it. probably the latter.

So......you're just getting rid of Elena basically? lol

    I can't believe I forgot about Enzo. I have a huge man-crush on him and Damon. :D
We need more Enzo. It's a travesty I forgot about him and that he wasn't in the first episode dammit. :o

Yeah, they are twins but with Flash not knowing who the twins were it was easier to say brother and sister witches.

Also, did something happen when Alaric came back that necessitated him becoming a vampire or is it just something that has no explanation right now? Not sure if I missed something.

I didn't think he would be a vampire on returning because if I recall wasn't it only maintained by a spell that has since ended. I thought he went to the otherside because when he died he was a vampire but if he came back he would be human again...I dunno and I guess they coudl have gone either way but they wanted an "original" about for whatever reason.

I don't think she asked Ric to erase her memory of Damon, only to erase the memory of her love for Damon, so people talking about Damon shouldn't have an affect on her memory.
    F1etch wrote: »

Apparently. :p Bring back Katherine, she cried a whole lot less, though her shenanigans with Stefan on their road trip was terrible tv.

I thought his character was suppose to be in this new season, though it's possibly his scenes just haven't come into play yet.

He died an original vampire (created by Esther to kill her kids).
