Back from my last olympic day in the olympic park .

It was quite emotional leaving, as even though I'll be back for the Paralympics it felt like the sun was setting on a part of my life that I will always remember fondly.

Great athletics session this morning, some impressive qualifications from our guys and girls. Crowd predictably went nuts when Mo came out. Would have been easy for Mo to play to the audience but he qualified in sensible fashion, which was a smart play.

Saw the ladies hockey semi finals this afternoon/evening. Both great matches. GB loss a little controversial in the sense it raises the question of what is the point of having technology to review decisions and the framing them within such a narrow remit.

At the dutch/new zealand match, the ground was awash with orange and i was surrounded on all sides by people in dutch shirts, i actually wanted to support New zealand but decided it might be wiser to support the dutch due to this..

It's funny I remember Shanaze's race in Beijing more than most of the gold medal winners! Remember at the time her being hyped up as a shoe in for gold and her then stacking it numerous times through the competition!

It was odd how she was portrayed as a shoe in, as there really is no such thing in that event. I admire her attitude though, she threw away a silver medal in a desperate attempt to get gold.

Team GB boxing have launched an appeal after Tom Stalker's loss earlier today.

No exactly having seen the event last time it's a lottery! You could be the best in the world and get wiped out on the first corner in the final by someone else.

Hope she comes out of this games with something though as I imagine this is her last shot at it with the Velodrome probably beckoning her back to replace Pendleton.

The Video Umpire has been a complete waste of time, they have gotten more decisions wrong they they have right, even overturning the original correct decision by the onfield umpire on a couple of occasions!

119-86 for 3 quarters the boomers put up a fight but the 4th quarter was all about US dominance

Yeah the final score doesn't really show how competitive it was. Well done Aussies. It's difficult to stay in there with LeBron putting up a triple-double and Kobe getting hot.

If Stalker lost fairly I would accept the result but it was clear by everyone BUT the judges that Stalker was dominating that match up.

Have to say one of the highlights today was watching Sarah Attar run for Saudi Arabia (first female athlete to compete) and seeing the crowd spur her on. A link for those who missed it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/19180030

An inspirational lady and an amazing British crowd.

Yes - the only downside is that's she's really American rather than Saudi. I'm not sure if she's ever been there and she usually doesn't dress head to toe covered or always wear a headscarf so it feels political and token rather than a genuine effort by the Saudis to change. I'm not criticising her - change has got to start somewhere but it would be misleading to think this represents a step forward for everyday Saudi women.
