Just be yourself and show lots of energy and enthusiasm. I used to be a manager at a Maccy D's while at uni, and believe me when I say it can be hard work. So what we used to look for is people who demonstrate that they are willing to work hard.
It can be a great place to work, and now that I have moved on, I am still pleased to see people with Maccy D's experience on their CV as I know they will put the extra effort in. The social life can be great (I met my husband working there) too.
From a customer perspective all the staff seem to have excellent customer service skills......I would have thought that was a pretty important part of the interview.

I agree with this. I think that if you can get over your enthusiasm for the job and come across as bright and likeable then that will stand you in good stead.
It is always a good idea in interviews to have a question ready for the end when they say: "Is there anything you would like to ask us?".
I worked there 2 months over summer as a student as I didn't want to let my dad know how much I had run up my overdraft(he would have paid it but I felt very shameful ).
You basically have to make yourself out as a team worker and they will take you.
One question I remember from the interview was; "you organise to go out for a drink after your shift with a colleague, they have to stay a little longer to finish some work what would you do?" and the answer they are looking for is basically you would stay on and help your colleague so they can finish the work quicker.
I worked at McDonalds for about 2yrs whilst trying to be a student. Back then, you certainly had to work hard for your money...and this was before minimum wage was introduced too! I understand they pay a bit better now...
So long as you're a team player you'll get the job.
I GOT THE JOB!!
the man said that he didnt even want to put me through for a secondary interview, as I seemed the only person he'd interviewed that seemed interested in what he said and had some common sense
really buzzing

Congrats. I had an interview today but it didn't go that well, they asked annoying questions I couldn't answer.
You'd better start preparing then, eat really bad foods so you get all greasy and spotty, then you'll be a model employee.

No, what he really meant was that you were the only one that applied.:D
