In real life she and Paget Brewster were sacked because CBS "wanted new women". The new woman was Rachel Nichols, allegedly paid much more than either of AJ and Paget.

I thought it was a fairly believable exit. Jack was always Hotch's life and given what happened to Hayley he wouldn't take chances with Jack.

It wasn't the him deciding to go into witness protection to protect Jack bit that I found unbelievable. It was the added 'he decided even if/when we catch the perp he won't come because because it may happen again'.
Well it could have happened in all the years since Jacks mum was killed. It did happen before that and he never decided to just up and leave. When they were at risk from the reaper he told them it was only until he caught Foyete. So it's not like it's not happened before. That's the bit I didn't like. It's not a situation he hasn't been in before so it's just not Hotch to go 'oh well, bye now'. He was always the proactive 'I'll catch the person putting you in danger' type.
I hope the dust settles and they decide to bring Thomas Gibson back at some point in the future.

In a weird way I can see this working as an excuse to get rid of Hotch because it did happen before and they came back after the guy was caught and now their having to do it again. So they may come back only to have to go back under

Adam Rodriguez is just not a good actor. Same thing on CSI Miami. I've always preferred Paget to JJ and I miss the Derek and Garcia moments as well.
