Hmm. What had been shaping up to be a good drama was completely ruined by the ridiculous fantasy sequence on the Indian Ocean. A pointless, cheap device to make us think Ken Stott's character was still alive. It's a stunt that backfired and completely unnecessary.

Ken Stott has been great in this though.
Having her sat there saying nothing when Bourg visits doesn't hammer home her condition. The fantasy sequence got inside her mind.

Some things remind me of the Madeline McCann case, maybe it's now a bit like Huntely and Carr as well.
Garretts wife may well have believed her Husband was completely innocent 8 yrs ago , so she wasn't prepared to help anyone who wanted to investigate her husband.
Some time over the years she learned the truth. maybe she found the videos. we know Ian Garrett threatened to hurt Bourgs mother if he ever spoke to anyone, i think Victor Bourg may well be her son. maybe Garret threatened to kill Victor her Son if she said a word to anyone as well. the guilt and the knowledge of just what happened to her daughter has drove her mad.
The fantasy sequences explains she has experienced so much horror and guilt she cant live in the real world. all done in a few seconds.

I thought pretty much the same - I actually wondered if she was even involved in some way and not just covering up her husbands part in it - could explain why she is so haunted.

I doubt she was involved in any way. However, I believe she knew what her husband had done yet did nothing about it. I believe this is why she is so haunted.

I do not think that makes her bad...I believe it simply makes her human.

I'd say definitely looks like Mrs Garrett to me :o

I agree - it looks like a younger version of Mrs Garret and the house you can see behind her looks to be the same house in which Emily paid her a visit in 2006. The angle and the trees are slightly different, but it looks like the same place to me.

His expression while looking at those pictures is strange - as if he's looking for something and notices something slightly odd.

Sorry, in all my time on DS I've never posted a spoiler. How is it done ?

Anyway, it's not strictly a spoiler. Just check the number of episodes each character is in, it gives away something we've been wondering about since last night.

When Tony is in prison cell and Garrett enters to talk with him. When Garrett left the cell. The police officer in background I believe to be the same guy who belongs to the white Van, same guy that was watching Ziane (police officer) pick up evidence after he had thrown his phone

On my edited list, I have removed episode appearances (and also a single surname of a yet to appear character)

( to apply a spoiler tag - go to advanced editing box and up^^ with the Bold options, extreme right is a spoiler tag. highlight what you want to hide and press S.

So why would Ian Garrett threaten to kill Bourg's mother if that's also his wife??

    Monique appearing in 4 episodes?

Tony's first encounter with her appeared so random, I'd hoped she wouldn't turn out to be a key character. (It's possible she still may not have anything to do with the case, of course)

No, I don't think so. The police officer was a big, burly guy. White van man looked a bit of a weasel.

Rini says, "Karl Sieg goes by the name of [unclear] - he's in Brussels." Baptiste comes down the stairs and tells Tony he knows where Sieg is.

(The video showing Oliver in the house also showed a cleaning van outside the next day, which Julien Baptiste connected to Karl Sieg, former owner of cleaning company 'Pro Nettoyage'. Sieg is part of the 'Caid de Cité,' a gang of traffickers operating in Paris).

I hope the ending isn't finally finding out Oliver is alive and Tony then going to prison for the murder of Garrett. All those years of pain and searching and he won't get to be with his son even at the end.

Would Emily be prosecuted as an accessory to murder? Does she know Tony murdered Garrett? I am sure he would have told her or she would figure it out for herself once she heard the news of Garrett's disappearance.

However, this is beside the point because I believe the focus of the story will now shift to the finding of Karl Seig and Monique fits into all of this - for I understand she will feature in the next 3 episodes - or am I wrong?

I keep being reminded of the words of the journalist "every action has a reaction". That goes for most of the characters though, not just Tony.
