Hello,
I want to buy a PS3 for my boyfriend. I have noticed that you can get a 12GB or a 500GB. My question is what limitations will there be if I just get the 12GB? Is it worth paying that much more for a 500GB?
Cheers

With the 12GB you'd run out of space after about 3 or 4 games
It depends how much £25-30 means to you.
A 12GB PS3 is £155 on Amazon, and a compatible 500GB HDD with the PS3 caddy will cost £50.
A 500GB Ps3 is £230. and you don't have to do any fiddling about.
The process of installing the new HDD is super-easy, it takes five minutes and requires nothing more than a screwdriver, and if that £25-30 would be better used on a game then it's well worth considering.
This is what you would need to get:

and

Plus a 12GB PS3, obv.
Id say go with the 500 one and then ur done. No messing about. Also it comes in groovy colours !
FAT32 formatting is only necessary when hitching an external HDD, the PS3 formats New internal HDD drives by itself.
Oh yeah I forgot. It was only the hard drive from my old PC that I had to reformat.
He might want to use the Store for some games or movies, if so, then he could run into problems on day one, nobody needs that when they're excited about what they can be doing.
It's just not worth it, 500 is best unless you know for a fact he only wants it to play a few certain games.
