where do search for that?
google or your favourite search engine
hows that going to work on pc thats got no internet?
You search on one that does.
Download the drivers (which often come as an exe file that you run to do the install for you) and copy onto a USB stick or CD disk to transfer to the "faulty" computer.
How are you posting to this forum?
ok the problem i am getting at the momnent is when i try to open up internet ex it only allows me to work offline at the moment but when i go into tools & digonostiscs it apears tp crash & reboot, why?
via a working pc ,i got 2 of them
The computer you are having problems with how is it connected to your router? Is it via a cable or WiFi?
If WiFi are you sure that you have connected to the WiFi network correctly and entered the security password properly? If you are using WiFi then try a cable connection instead to see if that connects.
Open a command prompt on the computer and type
ipconfig
then press enter. It should return the IP address of the computer which should be something like
192.168.1.23
The Gateway address should be something like
192.168.1.1
The numbers may well be different but if you get something like that, especially the Gateway address then that shows the computer is seeing the router. That will at least gives us a starting point to work from.
ok wil try that
right ok that 192.168.1.1 was put into the adress bar it then asked me connect to the internet which it failed to establish.also put ipconfig into the start & run bar ,it failed to do anything
You don't put that into the address bar of anything.
You open a command prompt on the computer and type ipconfig into the command prompt and after you press enter it should return that address (or something similar - it depends on the router)
If you don't know how to open a command prompt then click the Start button then click Run and enter cmd.exe and hit enter.
just done the lata & entered cmd exe & have a black box come up.what do i do in there?
You do what I posted, type
ipconfig
into the prompt and then hit enter and see what it returns.
just tryed that it doesn't anything
Press enter/return!
Do you mean nothing happened after typing ipconfig or nothing appeared in the window as you typed those letters?
If the former did you press the Enter/Return key?
If the latter click anywhere on the command prompt window then try again.
yes did that but nothing possitive came back just a repeat of what came up 1st & that repeated again when repressing enter
For as little as £120
what happen was this put in ipconfig enter
what i got was windows xp ip configaration i entered again
then it documents & settings repeatedly after entering
Is this the same machine that was also crashing and rebooting before you reinstalled Windows?
thats the one
i did what i could then dicided to re-stall windows xp & now we are here
