network drivers probably, assuming its a length of actual cable to the machine then searching for "make model ethernet drivers xp" would be a good start along with a look at the manufacturers website

You search on one that does.

Download the drivers (which often come as an exe file that you run to do the install for you) and copy onto a USB stick or CD disk to transfer to the "faulty" computer.

OK lets establish a few things first.

The computer you are having problems with how is it connected to your router? Is it via a cable or WiFi?

If WiFi are you sure that you have connected to the WiFi network correctly and entered the security password properly? If you are using WiFi then try a cable connection instead to see if that connects.

Open a command prompt on the computer and type

    ipconfig

then press enter. It should return the IP address of the computer which should be something like

    192.168.1.23

The Gateway address should be something like

    192.168.1.1

The numbers may well be different but if you get something like that, especially the Gateway address then that shows the computer is seeing the router. That will at least gives us a starting point to work from.

You don't put that into the address bar of anything.

You open a command prompt on the computer and type ipconfig into the command prompt and after you press enter it should return that address (or something similar - it depends on the router)

If you don't know how to open a command prompt then click the Start button then click Run and enter cmd.exe and hit enter.

Do you mean nothing happened after typing ipconfig or nothing appeared in the window as you typed those letters?

If the former did you press the Enter/Return key?
If the latter click anywhere on the command prompt window then try again.

Is this the same machine that was also crashing and rebooting before you reinstalled Windows?
