How should Leona approach album number 3?

Her second album Echo sold over 2 million copies making it a success. However, compared to Spirit, sales of 2 million copies is disappointing.

How should she approach her third album to ensure that record sales do not continue to dwindle?

I think she needs to experiment with a new sound. Echo sounded too similar to Spirit (to me)...there wasn't much growth.

Her cover of They Don't Care About Us on The Labrynth tour showed she can do more than pretty ballads...

Halve the ballads and tackle some up-tempo electro pop with a booming voice.

She needs to collaborate with a big international star such as Justin Timberlake on her first single.

It needs to be uptempo and have the shock factor rather than the timid ballad style singles she normally churns out.

Stop working with the bland One Republic. That should do it.

Didnt she already collaborate with him? In the song Don't Let Me Down, it's a stunning song!

Stop making boring ballads & ruining other peoples songs. That's a start.

She should just do as she's told by her management/handlers/advisors.

Well this approach didn't work too well with Echo.

How about an old school sound? A bit like Joss stone did.

Release a catchy midtempo early in 2011. Nothing too left field - she needs to get the Spirit audience back, not alienate them further by turning into Lady Gaga or Katy Perry which simply won't be believable anyway.

It's less a case of the album and more a case of that first single to get her a foothold in the US. If she has a hit single or two, then she can release a ballad later in the year to sell the album in the run up to Christmas. Right now, if US radio gets another ballad from Leona, they'll probably just ignore it.

    Original.

I Loved Echo, so many beautiful songs written by Leona. I think the wrong singles were released at the wrong time which was the main factor in the decline in sales.

However in todays industry, selling 2 millions copies of any album is pretty damn good.

For the 3rd album id like to see Leona return to the R'n'B infused pop sound. Its where I think her voice sounds best. Also I think this era needs to have a change up where the single's are concerned. The lead single should be mid to uptempo (but still suiting Leona) and then the following singles should be a mixed bag of Ballad's, mid tempo's and Up beat songs.

I do think Leona should stick to songs with positive messages such as Better in Time and Happy as apposed to Forgive me. BIT and Happy are a good reflection of Leona and really connect with alot of people, myself included. Where as Forgive me represents a Leona that doesn't quite sit right with her fans.

Can't wait for the next era to begin! :)

Lordy please no - the whole "old school sound" is just so passe now.

The smartest thing she could do is tell Simon Cowell where to go and work with someone who understands the meaning of the word "relevant" instead.

More songs like Forgive Me, a few collaborations, one big ballad and one cover, and something slightly acoustic. A more electro/ modern sound on her uptempo stuff though.

Has she now magically sold 2 million though, every time someone discusses this album the figures mysteriously grow larger. At this rate in a months time it will be up to 3 million.

She hasn't got a chance IMO.
The pop scene at the moment is all about fun popstars with bags of personality like Lady Gaga,Katy Perry etc.
For her next album they will probably wheel her out in a duck costume and tell her to act crazy or something  But I can't see her pulling it off.
