You are correct. It was also keep your browser running smoothly, especially if you use the bloated mess that is IE.
Absolutely. Also it prevents websites pushing you down the same tracks everytime. Browse for kids presents one day and that retailer will skew content next time. Not sure if it is true, but many retailers share cookies so your buying habits on one site can spill over to others and possibly Google searches too. Is that really what you want when looking for a lawnmower or researching a project?
It makes me laugh when I use the misters laptop and there's no history on there whatsoever. I just think to myself oooh someone was being a naughty boy and then tease him about it when he comes home lol
Clearing all history only makes him more suspicious doesn't it. After looking at porn I use the "Clear History from Last Hour" option. My browsing history of Googling, Wikipedia, DS, Reddit, YouTube,... that accumulated over time are still there; it's only the most recent visits that are gone

It makes me laugh because unless you were looking at the apple start up screen for hours, there should be some form of history even if its my previous searches for facebook, google or halifax. Then hes baffled as to how I know what hes been upto. He thinks I have super powers - I shall leave him with this notion
My browser deletes my history every time it is closed on my password protected, encrypted laptop that no one else uses.
There's a tick box on the internet options to allow this automatically. Another thing you should do is go to advanced in your internet options and do a re-set regulary to restore advanced settings. This is much better than using anti virus programmes.
How do I delete previous history, ?? I think she might be checking:) A quick reply appreciated.
On firefox, just select 'tools', 'clear recent history' and select 'Browsing and download history'. Or select all options to clear everything.
On IE right click the desktop Icon, select properties, general. then click 'delete' in the browsing and history section.
I use mine quite useful, particularly when I get into arguments where someone says 'prove it' or 'got link for that.' Saves endless Google searching trying to remember exact phrases to find the page quickly.
There are many areas we might like to keep private. Looking up care needs, children's education, job searches, health websites and so on. Porn's only one of them... but applies to more than most !!

If you use IE, then deleting your browser history actually deletes nothing, as Windows keeps it. Using CCleaner is more effective (as it erases rather than deletes) although somewhat limited. I use an old program (in x86 mode) I have had since 2000 in addition to CCleaner. This erases (not deletes): java scripts log, list of recently saved images, invisible ad windows, sites usage reports, saved logins or passwords (although I don't actually save these), keyboard usage stats, temporary registry values and index.dat. I can also select individual files or folders for erasure and erase cached thumbnails and Windows error messages etc.
I always delete my history, I use google chrome, if I want to look at "naughty stuff", I use incognito mode and that prevents the computer putting it on the history delete. but I still delete anyway.
Delete doesn't remove files from the hard disk. Erase does, and depending on your level of paranoia you can choose various erasure methods through overwriting data with all sorts of characters and wipes.

I use CCleaner. It's a freeware.
I run CCleaner before I shut down at night.
Download and run this, you can do it daily.

I wonder what would raise more eyebrows in my history, the porn or the amount of hours wasted in general browsing.
This..
Same here.
