We are staying in San Diego for 10 days. Is it worth venturing to LA for one day and if it is what should we do there?

If you like sport at all, NFL would, for me, be a must. Even if you are not big on the game, the spectacle and atmosphere are something else. Of course, your companion/other half needs to feel the same !!

Good luck, hope you have a great trip.

LA is a very large spread out city, impossible to see much in a day. Beverly Hills to look at the shops, Hollywood, Universal City, Santa Monica all worth a visit.

Disneyland? It's in Anaheim on the southern side of LA so easy of access from the San Diego direction, I-5 all the way.

As an ex-Angelino, I'd say there's no point visiting for a day.

If there is something specific that you are into, then it might be worth the grief to sit in the traffic all day to do that one specific thing. But otherwise, I see no point.

I don't advise people to visit LA unless they can stay at least a few weeks. It is not like other cities, believe me!

There isn't a pro football team in LA. San Diego has the chargers however.

Thanks everyone, I guess it is going to be quality over quanity.

Would have considered Disney if it wasn't so expensive but we are going to other places like Seaworld. Never realised how expensive the entry fee is for the places in San Diego.

If you want a totally different experience, and have a car, then you might like to consider Joshua Tree National Park.

As an ex-Angelino, perhaps you can't appreciate that simply being there can be an fascinating day out, even if spent doing mundane things (driving on the freeways, stuck in traffic, etc).

(And for a day out, one suggestion is Griffith Park, where you can get a nice view of the city, although it's the opposite side to where the OP is.)
