Humax PVR-9300T Assisted Retune Pop-Up

I've just contacted Humax regarding what they refer to as an "Assisted Retune Pop-up" which was included in the 1.00.18 software upgrade (downgrade would be more appropriate) for the PVR-9300T and they now say that they are working on another OTA software upgrade to correct the mistake. They let slip that this would be without the infamous "Assisted Retune Pop-up", and then assured me it would be ready in two or three days. I'll believe that when I see it though.
After finally being transferred to someone who knew what they were talking about (I just kept on telling them that the box was now not fit for purpose and that I wanted it restored to how it was) they actually offered to collect my box and "downgrade" it to the previous version free of charge. Not wanting to lose the box for what could be a week or two they then agreed to send me the previous version of the software to do a manual "downgrade", although I couldn't get them to send me a free RS232 cable to carry it out.
I'll wait to see if they produce an OTA software fix and if not go ahead with the so called "downgrade".
The Pop-Up occurs on both Crystal Palace and Bluebell Hill transmitters (after applying the default settings) every time the box resumes from standby. It also bypasses the password for the Installation Menu so anyone can retune the box or restore the default settings without a password. So, as far as I can see, if you've set any Parental Controls these can be reset by anyone without a password by just restoring the default settings and then retuning.
I think Humax ought to think seriously about employing some software engineers

Does it really bypass the second required password to do a Default Setting or are you talking without thinking?

If he doesn't come back, I may consider it in the cause of science, so to speak Redoing my recording schedule again - yuk!

Obviously it does but that doesn't allow you to do a Default Setting therefore all your parental setting cannot be altered so it rather negates the last bit of your post. Far too many people come on here all guns blazing when it's not called for.

If Humax are going to release a new version it would be good if it contained a fix for the lockups rather than a fix for the trivial Assisted Retune PopUp which doesn't bother me at all.
That's how it works on the 9200 AFAICR but I've never encounted the time out, maybe I'm not in the menu long enough. I'd just assumed so long as you stay in menu then the once entered password is enough.
For a company such as Humax to start downloading, what is obviously software which is not fully tried and tested which repeatedly asks you to retune the device, is certainly irresponsible and incompetent since it must have caused problems for thousands of people, not only those that read this forum.
Aha, you might have just hit the nail on the head....
We then wanted to sell the 9200T but now can't until the OA update.
Our 9300T has been having problems and we now have the added pop up.
So we are now in 'no man's land', with two Humax products that don't work properly.
Our tramsmitter is Durris, N. Scotland.
ISTM that what is missing in their process is some proper testing.

Thanks for the previous info - it's not just me then!!
I have Emailed HUMAX today & awaiting a reply.:)
The very best of luck. I e-mailed Humax on 30th Nov asking about the re-tune pop-up and several other matters; I haven't received a reply. Between myself and my father (I bought him a 9200T some years ago) we have e-mailed Humax on at least 7 occasions and only ever received one reply.

I emailed Humax a couple of days ago and got the following reply from their technical support...
"We are aware of this and are broadcasting updates for our units in cycles, once the software is OTA your box should download it automatically, please keep an eye on our website and the DTG schedule for any updates made"
Looks like Humax are distributing a fix. The DTG site doesn't show any Humax Freeview updates, but it sounds like it's going to happen sometime soon.

David.
Does the pop up appear on recordings as well as on screen?
I am thinking of getting a Humax PVR so was wondering.
Thanks.

All in all mine rarely locks up, perhaps once every 4 months on average. The .15 did it for me as before that it was more like once a fortnight.
