their teacher is marking your work, not theirs
you are giving your kids the impression they are not good enough
you are not encouraging their independence.
However, no doubt you are doing it because you care, I just think you need to think about it.

Sometimes it is necessary to planning the layout to have a practice on another sheet. Then adjustments can be tried out before committing to the assignment sheet.
I point out to him where his layout, punctuation, mistakes due to hurrying and untidy crossing/rubbing out would make the teacher struggle to see his working/answers, and have him re-write it rather than hand in a sheet the teacher cannot mark.
Whereas my daughter takes more care first time and I encourage her to hand in the practice sheet rather than copy it neat, because her effort is readable. And hope my son sees the merit and time saved by doing this.
