Massive bake sounds good! Nice christmassy food :)

My girls aren't laying, they have grit and everything, I think they just get lazy in the winter! It was the same last winter, but never mind, I'm sure they'll start again when the weather gets warmer, I live in the North so it's absolutely freezing!

I am in North Wales. They stopped laying for a fewweeks recently, and now they are all giving me about an egg a day, with the odd day off. Mine are all hybrids though. If you have posh chickens they are more likely to stop in the winter.

*Squeals* Look at the pretty pink parrot!!! :D How lovely!! Is Migsy a boy or a girl? What are their personalities like?

Both the parrots are DNA tested boys. We take Migsy out on a harness sometimes. He always causes a stir with the girls :D Migsy is a nutter. Most cockatoo family birds are, but he is also very loving ;)

Chickens' little body clocks tell them to stop laying in winter, it's to do with the amount of hours of daylight. We used to have a small flock and sell the eggs at the gate. In order to keep them laying in winter, we used to have to put a light in the shed on a timer so that they still had at least 14 hours of "daylight". It worked, but it didn't seem natural to me, so we only did it the first winter.

Oops I forgot to keep on topic here. I have been keeping parrot types for a few years now, have only budgies and cockatiels nowadays, but had to hand rear a cockatiel from a day old after the parents abandoned her a few years back. Here's a couple of pics of Twizzle (who sadly died last year... )

I have a whole album on photobucket going through the ages, I did a home video of it and they are only screen captures, I shall always treasure it.

How cute was Twizzle! I would be so nervous if my chicks needed me to feed them, but they are miniscule. Hand reared birds do make wonderful pets!

No new chicks yet today. I know one pair have 2 more eggs that are fertile (the ones with the 2 chicks) The other pair have 2 fertile eggs, but this is their first ever clutch so I don`t know if any will hatch. I am keeping my fingers crossed they have sat on the eggs enough.
