noel edmonds-water speed record?

i've got a hazy memory of noel edmonds being involved with some sort of attemp on the world water speed record in the early 80s. i seem to remember reading about it in the papers. there was money trouble apparently and it was scrapped. theres nothing about it on his page in wikipedia. anybody else remember this?

    I vaguely remember something about it.

    It's a shame that he didn't emulate the late Donald Campbell. I really don't like Noel Edmonds...

    IIRC Noel was conned by some bloke and it was never real attempt.

    He was, the boat was called Excaliber it didn't get further than a mock-up.
