A budget of £9.3billion? Seesh. I remember the days when politicians talked about the budget being just over £2 billion.

I wonder if all the security costs will be revealed?

Not a lot of threads on this. Not any, in fact. I wonder why?
Because the final budget is about three times the original estimate which they promised would be enough. They have overspent.

I doubt it.

Last night on the news there was a report on a recruitment firm relocating it's entire staff to temporary premises in Maidenhead, to avoid the probable impact of the transport chaos during the games. It's one of many, many such examples, if a little extreme.

Have these costs been factored into your £500m-under-budget figure?

They can't be. To reveal how security forces spend money would jeopardise future security work. Even if they said it cost a quid we wouldn't be able to believe it anyway.

This could easily more than wipe out the £500m on its own.

Since the games are "under budget" to the tune of £500m, can some of that money be used to offset the decision to shaft 10,000 charities for the best part of 20 years in order to help fund this 16-day extravaganza?

I can't stand this kind of arrogant ignorance. You are aware the stadium was designed on the principle of NOT being a white elephant don't you? You are aware it can remain as an 80,000 seat stadium or be reduced to a small 25,000 seat stadium by removing the top tier of seating (and anything in between) with the structure designed in such a way that it can be easily modified, and that there are numerous bids in waiting for purchase of the stadium?

And to quote arrogant ignorance you are aware that no-one has yet agreed a deal to take it over and actually use it after the games - the Tottenham and West Ham deals are not finalised, both are in considerable doubt (whilst it was originally said that a deal was going to be in place "well before the games took place".

Well lets see who is right. Not long to wait now, before the tumbleweed blows across the running track.

do we know what is going on with the cycling velodrome? I think Cycling is due some attention, and the Olympic velodrome, should be the Wembley of the sport.

Out of interest, what happens to the removed tiers / seating and what are the advantages of being able to reduce the seating capacity?
