Gillian Anderson has been doing a lot of work here recently.

That's because she was born here but american raised. She moved here after being done with The X Files. Rumors suggest she hated living in the US knowing it was being run by President Bush. She seems to have stayed here since, but has recently made a return to US tele with Hannibal.

She was born in America. She lived here for a while as a kid and then moved back.

Let's hope it stays that way.

I think it would be nice if we got more American/Canadian actors here. Of course the limited pay is a barrier. But I've always said the US is a lot more open than us and not just in television, in film too. We get our knickers in a twist when an American can't get our precious accents right to a tee :D

Don't think we'll ever see many Americans playing Brits over here. There would be uproar. Unless it's a big name like Gillian Anderson or a very famous actor/ actress. I wouldn't like to see Americans in police dramas or the like where their characters are supposed to be working over here because it wouldn't be very realistic. Unless they were brought in as some sort of specialist working in their field.

Colm Meaney in Hell On Wheels

Roma Downey in Touched By An Angel

I've just remembered that Colm Meaney appeared in a trio of TV movies based on the Dectective Murdoch Mysteries books by Maureen Jennings. Several years later the same books inspired the tv series Murdoch Mysteries which I mentioned in an earlier post

He played Inspector Thomas Brackenreid, the same character played by Tommy Craig in the series.

In the first two tv movies the character of Dr Julia Ogden was played by Keely Hawes (Ashes to Ashes). Funnily enough in the tv series the character of Dr Ogden was played by Helene Joy who had appeared in the last of the tv movies as a completely different character.

Charlie Bewley - The Vampire Diaries/Nashville
Joseph Morgan - The Vampire Diaries/The Originals
    Fiona Shaw - True Blood

A British actor cast as the season female regular seems to be a tradition in True Blood as you've also got Lara Pulver and Lucy Griffiths

Zuleikha Robinson who played the television journalist who was one of Abu Nazir's terrorists in Season 1 is British. She's also been in Lost, Covert Affairs, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and the (probably soon to be cancelled) Intelligence, which coincidentally stars Lost's Josh Holloway and OUAT's Meghan Ory.

Is this another dual production? Anyway many of the cast are Brits.

The two I know of are Laura Haddock and Lara Pulver

Elliot Cowan who plays Lorenzo de Medici

David Hewlett who played Dr Rodney McKay in the Stargate franchised was born in Britain

Jared Harris also appeared in several episodes of Fringe

3 members of the cast of Defiance are British and another is Irish

Tony Curran, Jaime Murray and Stephanie Leonidas (British)
    Fionnula Flanagan (Irish)
