High-Rise

I saw this a few months ago in the cinema. It's out now on DVD, Blu Ray, Netflix, etc. Based on J. G. Ballard's novel. It's a sort of satire set in a high rise building - sort of commenting on the impending Thatcher/Reagan era as it is set in the 1970s(it was written in 1975). It was directed by Ben Wheatley(A Field in England, Sightseers, Kill List fame). It stars Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Guillory, Keeley Hawes, Sienna Miller, Elizabeth Moss, James Purefoy. Quite a cast. I sort of got the political message of it, but perhaps it was hitting people over the head with it, far too much.

I've never read the book of it, is it a faithful adaptation? Also, what were people's thoughts on the actual film?
