Hi all,
My Dad's beloved Tesco Hudl (first gen) broke recently and he's devastated. He is technologically inept and communicated with this thing just by using Google Voice! He only really used it to check football scores, bowiling tables, oil prices, and recently I taught him how to do the Fantasy Premier League He has no interest in HD video, gaming, photography or work-related applications.
With this in mind, what would be the best replacement? I've looked at the obvious - the Kindle Fire at £49.99 - but the lack of microphone puts me off, simply because my Dad has found it so easy to navigate with Google Voice that I don't want to take that off him. From what I understand, you can't communicate with the Kindle in this way. Highly rated Android tablets such as the Nexus 7 (which I have myself) come in at prices that wouldn't be justifiable given all he uses it for.
So are the cheap tablets that can be found online any good? I've seen some as low as £27. An example - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Android-Google-Tablet-Camera-Capacitive/dp/B00LGUSFBY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1475091585&sr=8-3&keywords=7%2Binch%2Btablet&th=1

If you go on Ebay there are some there 'AllWinner' makes from about £40 to £59 all quad core much better processors and some memory included about 8GB or 16 GB all do the job I have one as a spare and it works great , has a mike and a camera as well ;-)
Worth a look! on Ebay.
I've now bought a Lenovo Tab2 with a 10 inch screen ( total with memory card £130 ) and I'm liking it. In my opinion, it's great value for money.
