No, not another apocalypse.

This is when, at the current rate of progress, I calculate that the enthralling "Count to a million" thread I've just spotted in chatter will reach its goal.

I wish them well.

    On what basis?

How many posts do you expect them to make in a single day?

    Just curious. :)

so enthralling is it, that this member seems to have signed up merely to add to the count!

I extrapolated from when they started. They are running at about 360 posts per day. It is challenging work.

Oh, I tried to add my own count, but by the time I posted it, someone else already had!

The very reason i do not contribute to the thread. :p

Either they have a system, or there is a lot of post-posting editing going on, adding to the workload. Perhaps they coordinate the ascent of Mount Ridiculous on twitter...

You say that there won't be an apocalypse but I reckone there's a finite, non-zero chance that should they ever reach a million either

    (1) God will reach the conclusion that humanity has grown bored with its existence, wipe us out and start again with the cats

    or

    (2) The Universe will instantly be dissolved and replaced with something a hundred times more complex.

there's the strong possibility also, that this site will have succumbed to the fickle nature of people who use the internet, and be no more.

You might be right. That thread could be a greater threat to humanity than the LHC.

We should petition the mods to stop it, before it's too late.

Incredible. I'm not actually that surprised to see that DS is the host of the crappest thread on the internet

Aaaah come on, it seems like a bit of harmless fun to me. :)

Surely that thread is the crappist in the history of DS. The author of it should be ashamed....and possibly certified.

It's obvious Mwarpie is a sock puppet (someone's second account). No-one would sign up to DS just to contribute to that thread and nothing else.

Well I just can't believe people can sit there all day counting every day of their life. It's beyond me. I just have no words.

The Mods should close it or they could get sued.

At least it's in chatter....so easy to bypass :D

maybe this thread should be there ;)

Are people not overreacting slightly to the counting thread?

Don't contribute to it if you don't like it, surely. :)

Is anyone checking to make sure there's no cheating going on? No skipping from 111637 to 111641 or something?
