I was just looking through the what is your real name thread and saw the name I was going to be called if I had been born a girl.

I wondered if how many other people actually know what their name would have been if they had been born the opposite gender?

If I was a girl my name would have been Charlotte

If I was a boy I would've been called Cain :o No offence to anyone with that name, but lets just say I'm glad I was born a girl.

My mum was always convinced that I was going to be a girl so she never even considered any boy names. Lucky for me she was right.

My parents were told that I was going to be a boy so they picked out the name Andrew for me, all set to go when I should pop out and I was definitely not an Andrew! Luckily they had a girls name they liked before so they used it! :D

Marmaduke. No kidding. My dad loved that name. Although I do kind of have the female equivalent. Ah and my middle name, which he chose, is his name so I do have a bloke name anyway. Forgot that.:o

Ashley, which is good as its one of my favourite girls names. I'd have been a right tease, and spent a lot of time locked in my room ;)

They already have four boys, so they were deciding between Shinya, Shintaro and Shinjiro before I was born.

The kanji they wanted to use for 'Shin' means 'new or fresh start' or 'renewed belief'. Yeah, I was created to save their failing marriage. The worst solution possible because my arrival had basically destroyed whatever left of that marriage. :D:o

I've asked my mother this in the past and she said it would have been something traditional, like David.

I'm fine with that as I much prefer traditional names.

I'd have been named after the grandfathers, in that case, so it would've been Getty or Thomas, or both. I quite like Getty as a name.
