Italy were utterly robbed in 2011.

    That was dire.

The chorus has some generic Italian sentimentality.

Indeed, although you could say the same thing about any song that finished runner-up to Ireland in the 90s, frankly.

Except the UK in 1993. :)

Poland should have won in 94 .

I thought the Polish songs were better in 95 and 96 both great, with 96 being surely an unquestionable classic.

Poland or Hungary 1994 = Both would have made GREAT winners especially for a debutant!

Spain 1989 = Beautiful ballad, beautiful singer, beautiful voice, WONDERFUL performance. And Riva won

I agree on the Hungarian one, though it's the kind of song most people on forums now would say wasn't big enough sounding lol. The Polish one to me though is quite middle of the road and not distinctive.

Yeah those vocals aren't distinctive at all..... It's amazing!

The vocals are fine probably, but I'm talking about the melody and the song.

As much as I liked the 1999 winner (Charlotte Perrelli - Sweden), I kind of think that Selma (Iceland) should have won instead. Charlotte should have won 2008 though!

I didn't like the 99 winner, but then I don't like most winners. Diamond of Night wasn't too bad in 99, probably not one of my favourite years though.

This. Italy 2011 was awful and Israel 2005 by far best entry from them

That made me realise my error above- I had Tornero as Italy when the singer was Italian (?) but singing for Romania. Oops.

    Can't believe I forgot Gina G aswell

The singer is as Romanian, but the lyrics were partly in Italian ;)

Malta 2009. Chiara - What if We

I loved this song so much. It is by far the best entry Chiara has put forward. It was a shame it did so badly in the finals. My favourite Eurovision song ever.

Rúzsa Magdi - Unsubstantial Blues - Hungary 2007.

if I remember correctly, Germany's song that year was a bluesy jazzy number which should have got more votes than it did too!!
