Strong cast headed by Oona Chaplin, Suranne Jones and Hermione Norris has been announced for BBC1 drama The Ark about medical staff in a field hospital in World War One. Shooting starts this month with transmission in 2014 as part of the BBC's season to mark the centenary of the start of the war. The six-part series will be produced in house by BBC Drama. Filming has already started on a single BBC2 drama The Wipers Times about a satirical newspaper produced by troops behind the front line and starring Michael Palin, it will be screened later this year.
