Your DREAM Radio Line Up

Imagine you could have your own radio station. Imagine you could decide on appointing all of the presenters and they would all be available and willing to join your talk radio station. Which radio presenters would you employ and why? You can have long-retired or deceased presenters to make your Talk Radio Dream Team!

04.00 - 07.00 Steve Allen - Controversial even though a lot of it is repugnant it would at least be interesting!

07.00 - 10.00 Mike Parry and Alan Brazil - Parry is a very funny man!

10.00 - 13.00 Mike Dickin - Long live the King!

13.00 - 17.00 Nick Abbot - Light-hearted a cynical take on the news

17.00 - 20.00 Frank Skinner - Funny anecdotes galore with no music!

20.00 - 22.00 Uri Geller and Jeremy Beadle - hahaha remember when they were on Talk Radio

22.00 - 01.00 JAMES WHALE - The best nighttime show ever...all sorts of weird and wonderful topics to discuss with some really entertaining conspiracy theories

01.00 - 04.00 A YOUNG Ian Collins when he used to do Creatures of the Night - not when he went all obnoxious and right wing.

What would your dream line up be, people?

My line up would differ, as I would use a mixture of syndication, guests, guest DJ's and the same stations presenters specialist skills. Here's two examples of what I'd love to see for a Friday night, Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning.

    Friday's
1800: Kev Dobbs In The Mix
2000: Zoe Hardman's Hed Kandi Radio Show
2200: Essential Dance: Fascinating Rhythm with Ste Dawson
    0000: Trance (local or syndicated).

    Saturday's
1600: Mike Brown - Nothing But The Nineties
1800: Locally produced warm up show
2000: locally produced 'In The Mix'.
2200: This Is Graeme Park: Radio Show
    0000: Andi Durrant's Electrik Playground
0200: Bassline & Bouncy House Mix (local or syndicated).
    0400: Trance (local or syndicated).
    0600: Colin Hanslip's Chill Factor
    0800: Breakfast.

    Johnnie Walker
    Darren Redick

Wow thanks for the fantastic responses there, guys! It's clear we all love radio!

Reading your line ups, I realised there are so many good broadcasters out there, many of whom I've forgotten.

Tommy Boyd would have to be shoe-horned into my schedule. He really was excellent.
Hawskbee and Jacobs are like an old slipper: they make their show sound effortlessly good.
Anyone think Danny Kelly is a top presenter when it comes to sports? I always find that I learn so much when I listen to him. He's always well-researched and delivers comprehensive analysis and discussion.

I've been checking out some Iain Lee material with Barry from Watford on YT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0FBskmArKk
I'm late to the party on this one but his shows sound amazingly funny. Is he still worth listening to now on WM?

Connor, I have to say your line-up is especially good. There's a fabulous mix in there. Stapleton is undervalued at LBC - he always seems to have objective debate and allows people to say things that are otherwise not permitted.

I'm opposed to his politics but I have to say that Iain Dale is a very competent and skilled journo/broadcaster. He seems to get to the heart of the stories with his contacts and doesn't come into discussions from a nebulous, ignorant viewpoint. His love for politics is evident in everything he does.

Iain is not a BBC man doing very well on BBC stations. The phone in that he does on WM is not the normal "What Do You Think" or "I am not going to give your my opinion but I want you to give me yours" he says what he thinks and gets a lot of caller who want to have a argument with him. The topics of the show are normal some of the main news stories of the week along with a lighter topic like something that has happened to him in the week or a more funny news story.

Here is his last show http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01zrj20
Listen to the calls at 0:39:10 one of the best calls, the caller says that people can get killed for calling BBC WM and then goes on about her being Danny Black's mother.

also calls at 2:05:15 and the call after it. The Argument at 2:46:51 was very funny too.

on the other point about John Stapleton I am hoping he will have a regular show on LBC but I can't see it happening.

Cheers - I'll have a listen. Does Barry from Watford still call him? I can't believe I've missed this comedy masterpiece. I saw a video of him on Youtube doing a nanny parody where he went mad at a wayward family. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time!

That's the one I heard on FB!! Haha! I was caught hook, line and sinker! It's superb!
Contrast the lady's serious point about her spine potentially snapping with Barry's intransigent fascination with Viscount Biscuits.

I bet the people who make Viscounts loved that call. I certainly had a craving for one while listening to Barry's passionate eulogy.

11:00-13:00- Vanessa Feltz (Call-in chat show)
    13:00-16:00- Stuart Maconie (Just Music)

17.00 - 20.00 Frank Skinner - Funny anecdotes galore with no music!

20.00 - 22.00 Uri Geller and Jeremy Beadle - hahaha remember when they were on Talk Radio

22.00 - 01.00 JAMES WHALE - The best nighttime show ever...all sorts of weird and wonderful topics to discuss with some really entertaining conspiracy theories

01.00 - 04.00 A YOUNG Ian Collins when he used to do Creatures of the Night - not when he went all obnoxious and right wing.
