I have a few favourite songs but if I absolutely had to choose it would be Need You Now by Lady Antebellum. It took me two frantic days of googling and quizzing everyone before I found out what it was called after hearing it on the TV. I needed to know!

Luke Kelly is a legend, love the version of Black Velvet Band when he was in the dubs
It's a long song for those days - 7 minutes of pure pleasure
probably the greatest voice in popular music ?
wonderful accompaniment by the Oscar Peterson trio...........sometimes i like to just listen to the tinkling piano which plays against the singing.................
The song has a great change of tone half way through...........the first bit is how she's all in love with this bloke, then half way through she realised he's a no good 'un and it gets all sarcastic
also quite racy for the time with lines like 'horizontally speaking, he's the best' and the ants in her pants, a euphemism for a bit of tingling down under.........:p
It's the kind of record I can just replay time after time.............
Comments
