Rite, a really annoying ipod nano query, can anyone help???

I have just tried to sync my itunes with my ipod after downloading some new tunes.

When i stuck in my ipod, Itunes is telling me...

"Itunes has detected an ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes"

So i click ok, i have restored it to its factory settings. I take it out put it back in again and i get the same error message as above

I have tried synching it via the file menu, but no luck

Argh - its so annoying. Anyone any ideas?

Have you tried rebooting the pc? That coupled with a clean reboot of iTunes may well give it the kick start it needs. If not try restarting the iPod by holding the centre button and menu buttons down till the apple icon shows. Then restart your pc and go from there.
I hope all your music is backed up?

since your itunes is detecting the iPod in recovery mode you cant back it up.

try rebooting the nano as follows:

make sure the hold button is set to off (if on you will see orange area.

Move the hold switch to the on position and then move it back to off.

Hold down the Menu button on the clickwheel and the center button at the same time. Hold these together for 6-10 seconds. This should restart the iPod nano. You’ll know the iPod is restarting when the screen changes and the Apple logo appears.

once rebooted huck the iPod back up to pc and load iTunes and see if that works

It is synching as i type! thank god!!!

PS. I plan to back up my library to an external hard drive - dont want a repeat performance of the last few days!!!
