Which songs do people think sound better when performed live, as opposed to the album version?

I absolutely love these performances by metallica, good if you like loud and angry music!

I think "Cheap Sunglasses" by ZZ Top sounds better when it is performed live compared to the original album version. Admittedly I have only ever seen/heard about three live performances of "Cheap Sunglasses" but on each of those performances, I thought the guitar solos, vocal performances and electronic drums were far superior to the original album recording.

Ok, this is not as hardcore as you lot, but I saw a Reemer support McFly and thought they were great. However, bought the album and was somewhat disappointed.

I prefer the S&M versions of some of Metallica's songs, such as Hero of the Day and Nothing Else Matters (although those are slower songs so go well with the orchestra), but especially The Memory Remains. Really don't like the original but absolutely love the S&M version:

Also quite a few U2 songs...wasn't a fan of Love and Peace or Else but the live version is fantastic.

Barry Manilow does a fantastic live version of 'Weekend in New England'.
Basically the same as the record until he gets near the end and then holds the 'you' in 'when will I see you again' for what seems like 3 hours. Beautiful.

ANything from The Feeling and James Morrison's first albums.

I went to both of their gigs after the aforementioned albums came out just because all my mates were going. I thought 'Oh this is gonna be so bland just like on the radio.' Both absolutely brilliant.

I'm still loving James Morrison though but have been disappointed with releases from The Feeling's second album.

God Called In Sick Today by AFI. The entire band seems to up their energy. Plus the lead singer walks into the crowd to sing a chorus.

Quite a few Radiohead tracks take on a whole new life when performed live. One of things I really like about them.

Minority by Green Day. I love the version on the Milton Keynes cd, Bullet in a Bible; I prefer it to the original.

Agree with this totally. The ones that really stick out are, Jungleland, Incident On 57th Street, Badlands, The Promised Land & Born To Run.
