Is anyone else noticing these disappearing off the supermarket shelves to be replaced by Marmite brand (in a black and yellow bag) crisps? I've tried the Marmite brand ones and they are not as nice as Walkers but I'm wondering if Walkers have lost the right to make their version.

The Marmite brand ones taste to me of burnt sugar

No I've not noticed this but there's not that many crisp manufacturers in the country, so they are probably still made by walkers.

They seem to be made with different potatoes too - different texture.

Yes, totally different - almost thicker.

I don't think they are made by Walkers.

I loved Walkers Marmite crisps.
Given them up for Lent though so I can't have the new ones until after Easter.

Well it's official, Walkers Marmite crisps are no more

Here's an email I received in reply to mine to Walkers HQ:

Quote:
“Thank you very much for your recent email.

Unfortunately, we have to disappoint you as we no longer manufacture this particular product. The main reason for this was that demand was disappointingly low. You can rest assured, however, that our Marketing Team will continue to consider the preferences of our consumers and bring you new and exciting products and promotions in the future.

Please be assured, we have forwarded your comments on to our Marketing Team for their attention.

Thank you once again for taking the time to contact us.

Hmm, that's odd, they're still available here!

The new one's are a different manufacturer. Believe it or not there are more than 12 crisp and snack factories in the UK, some owned by same companies, but there's more than you realise.

Sorry to drag up such an old thread but Walkers Marmite Crisps are coming back!

It would be nice to see the beef and onion ones too.

A salted crisp flavoured with a product that's renowned for its excessively high salt content. Doesn't seem like a marketing department's dream to be honest.

Don't buy them then Actually they are not salted first.

I'm pretty indifferent to Marmite products, I can take them or leave them.

Yessss! These used to be my favourite crisps. I was gutted when they disappeared.

I don't like Marmite, but used to love those Marmite flavour crisps

The only decent crisp Walkers made (at least under their own name).

I've missed them and the closest i've been able to come since they disappeared is Real crisps "Roast Ox" flavour (more reminiscent of Smith's Bovril than Marmite though).

Hope they use the same recipe as before.

I agree, I miss the Bovril crisps and the Real ones are the closest, although a bit too thick for my liking.

It is indeed, as are Marmite cashews!

Not tried the specific marmite cheese but I do love marmite and cheese sandwiches so I might have to buy a block. With a side of the cashews and bag of the crisps.

Anyone spotted the Walkers Marmite crisps yet? Are they going to use the same packaging they used to?

So far my local supermarket is still stocking Marmite crisps in the black packaging, which i presume is still the disgusting replacement crisps that appeared after Walkers previous contract expired.

I think they are scheduled for August. Yes, the black bag ones are the revolting replacements. They are no longer stocked in my local supermarkets so hopefully that is a good sign
