Yes its that time of year again when either the worst song ever or the best song goes to number at Christmas and this year.......well i wouldnt say we were spoilt for choice but its definately an improvement on last years race.........One true voice .......shocking lol!

This year we have the=

Cheeky girls= No please.......just no okay just dont put it at the top! 2/10

Christmas is all around= Parody of 'Love is all around' from the Love Actually film. Lets hope this one wont stay on top for 15 week hey lol....though i doubt it lol. 4/10

The darkness= I quite like this track actually, its kind of "old skool" 80s/70s christmas anthem isnt it. But after all the hype this track had before we even heard it, it doesnt quite live up to it unfortunately, however its still fun and might even become a true classic, you never know!?! 8/10

Pop idols= Happy Christmas (war is over), might be an anti war song (or supposedly it is) however i do not think all the kiddies will buy it because its a anti war song and i dont care what anyone says.......The war isnt over, people are still dying and i certainly do want a song saying it is.......And the Simon Fuller doesnt care what the message of the song is, all he cares about is that he will get another million quid out of it! Oh and the video will make you vomit. Unfortunately this might go to number one and we will just have to cope with it unless you lot go and buy something else, which i doubt you will. I for one will certainly not give another penny to Simon Fuller. 3/10

Bo selecta 'Proper crimbo'= I think this is truely the best out of the lot lol . Yes the lyrics are shite and the song is crap but its as catchy as hell and most importantly of all its fun and has the spirit of christmas. Though the video has to get the top price for the most entertaining and possibly the best video of the year! Its deffo a christmas cracker!
9/10

So which one will you lot be championing ?
Geeg

I dont think there is much doubt it will be the Pop Idols.

But I would so love it to be The Darkness

As long as the Idols or Atomic Kitten aren't at No.1 I don't really mind, The Darkness would be great though!

It has to be the Darkness or Gary Joules. Anything else is a travesty.

Please God, NOT the Pop Idols. Their record is offensive in its complete shallowness.

I know i mean i know SImon Fuller and Simon Cowell are rich but surelly they do actually watch the news??????/ Surelly !!!?????!!!!!! Well if they did they would still see the death toll rising and more British army being brought back dead! Oh but hell the Simon Fuller is getting millions so what would he care

Oh i bet our boys and girls who went to Iraq to fight would be so proud to see what is at number one this christmas.......Yes they would be so proud infact they might even shift there target from Saddam Hussian to the team behind Pop idol lol. Well look on theb bright side at least they would actually for once get their target right lol.

*p.s. please take the above comment light heartedly*!

Why is everyone going on about The Darkness' song? It's rubbish. Sure rubbish usually hits number one this time of year but its a complete mess of a record that doesn't have a good "hum-a-long" melody that a Christmas record should.

Christmas No.1?

Two Words

The Darkness

Everybody BUY this single, and together we can stop Simon Fuller's christmas cash-in cover of the John Lennon classic from being no.1 instead!

The Darkness I dont think have a chance of getting to no.1, Its not a track Id expect alot of people to go out and buy at christmas.

Bo Selectas one is

I don't particularly care, but I think of the ones mentioned so far I'd hope it was The Darkness. I've not heard any of them, but I'm sure that the Bo Selecta one and the Cheeky Girls are both dead awful.

Just checked the release schedule : I hope the Gary Jules/Michael Andrews version of Mad World does it, that'd be the best option.

It has to be The Darkness! Or I'm cancelling Christmas.
If enough people could be persuaded to stop the evil rise of the Simons Cowell & Fuller by buying The Darkness, my faith in humanity would be restored.

The Darkness

Come on. There hasn't been a rock Christmas number one for twelve years. Isn't it about time for a decent one.

Proper Crimbo' is very catchy though....

I hope its the Darkness, but im not that bothered if Pop Idol's get to number 1 for xmas. there hasnt been a decent xmas number 1 since "2 Become 1" and the last decent xmasy song was probably "Stay Another Day".
Its a shame that we dont get many classic xmas songs these days like we did in the 80's (Wham, Band Aid, Shakin Stevens, Cliff Richard etc).

I have been playing mad world by gary jules for months now, as soon as I saw Donnie Darko I downloaded the track but I will definitely be buying it again. It is the best song of the year never mind chrimbo. Hats off to Tears of fears I never really listened to the lyrics before. The Darkness to me are just as novelty as the Cheeky Girls.

well i think they are all pretty poor , and no-ones mentioned the awful cover version of i'm your man by shane richie not xmassy i know but it may well make it to no one.
the pop idols cover adds nothing to the original at all so theres no point to releasing that , the darkness lead singer guy sounds like a bad female singer strangling a cat with no obvious tune.
the cheeky girls i havent heard but i suspect it sounds just like all their other singles, one tune, different "cheeky" words.
bo selector...ok i didn't think much of that either but the video makes up for the lack of a decent tune.
mmmmm very dissappointing this year
