Just replaced my HDR due to a fault. The new one has 1.00.03 installed. Dated 6 March 2009.

Cannot see any differences so far but I've only used it for a few minutes.

Still cannot delete programmes whilst it is recording

as new as it might be, it would have been nice to share it online as well.
If it is already in hardware send to consumers, it must for sure be ready for an internet release...

is it perhaps just an interim update which allows new boxes to update over air using just one LNB feed?

The Update Date on my .03 is February 6th, so the date in the original post might have been a typo.

You are correct. As this update has been available for over a month why hasn't it been pushed out OTA?

And why are Humax so silent on what it contains?

Perhaps you two are unknowingly beta testing it first

Perhaps it contains a fix for some rare but serious equipment compatibility and there is no need to push peole to update because anyone affected would have returned their box.

Seem a possibility since it doesn't seem to have changed anything noticable so far.

Have you tried recording from the buffer?

Surely there must be some changes, have you still not found anything? Dying to know what this has fixed.

The change might not be something visible to end users.

If it was a change to aid manufacturing testability (for example) then there'd be no need to release it to existing users.

How about the loader? Is it a new version - different to the current U7.51. Look at the boot screen: http://foxsat-hdr.wikispaces.com/fil...max_splash.jpg

But you have firmware 1.00.02? I guess Humax shipped the new loader before the new firmware...

Not all HDR are the same... we have 3 slight different ones out in the wild...

BTW: A good source of knowledge found here, indicates no UI/recording/etc changes...

The 1.00.03 fixes an issue to do with software updates which isn't a problem at this time, thus why we haven't paid for the OTA to be broadcast. We will likely combine this with something more substantial when we are ready.

Well, I can see that it wouldn't be a problem "at this time", as there is no software update, but does that mean those of us on 1.00.02 will have a problem when the next update is sent?

No, that's why it isn't being broadcast, it is to deal with an issue that might occur in certain combinations, we are debating sending out .03 but it wouldn't actually benefit you at this time. In fact it was put into production just because it was the latest version in our software release database not because it was required.

I probably know the answer to this but here goes. Bob_Cat, any indication of when and what might be in the next update, I won't hold you to this, but surely the list of fixes etc must be known and being tested as we speak?

Here's hoping, Woolfynorm.

Understanding that an OTA update cost money, but why not make it available online for download? That would at least keep cost to a bare minimum?

But ok, if there is no benefit what so ever, it is to an extent pointless in sending out an update.

I thought they weren't going to make updates available on the web, only OTA? The only reason .02 is on the web is so that users with a single feed can update from .01 which has a problem with OTA and a single feed.

having recently bought a Humax how I determine what s/w it has as I do not know how long the supplier may have had it in stock?
I tried to see if it would download new s/w but was told no new s/w available
