Archos AV500 - dead!

The machine has absolutely no life to it and, even when I attempt to recharge it, it doesn't boot up. It just will not switch on.
I know it could be any number of things, but any ideas?

I'm not too familiar with the model, but does it have some set of Reset mode, either by a pin hole on the unit or holding down the Power Button?

Never thought of that! I'll check. Thanks.

What are you trying to charge it with?

I seem to remember that on some devices, once the battery has been allowed to run down to total, absolute, zero, you need to use a mains charger to get them going again. A USB charger doesn't work at this stage.

Like I say, no idea if this is the case with the Archos, but I do remember it happening with some other devices which can be charged with either USB or a mains charger.

I used to have an AV500. If it is not charging at the mains it may be worth going to the Archos website to see what they can do. I know they have a repair service. After around 3 years mine had just started to fail with playback etc. Got a Zune in the end.

I'm using a mains charger, and I never allow it to lose charge completely. In response to Matt-08, it doesn't appear to have a reset mode. This just reinforces my opinion of archos products - I'd never have another!
