I bought a Grundig GUFSAT01HD Freesat box, I have at the moment Sky Plus with a Sky installed dish (works great) I installed my new freesat box temporary using one of my sky leads (from dish) just until I get a quad LNB fitted, but for some reason I am not getting any Network or Transport ID reading, I am in Southwest Scotland and my sky dish is a 43 cm dish, I contacted my receiver supplier and he did not know why I am not getting anything, can any one help please, would a larger dish solve the problem? I put in my post code as required and the box did a scan then, then said "no services found" I am at a loss please help me

PS. The signal strengh I am getting varies between 85% to 90%

Unfortunately I don't own a Grundig so I can't help difinitively but I suggest it may involve one of the number buttons being pressed a couple of times like on a mobile to access the other characters. If not someone will be along shortly to help out

The Alba boxes don't need a space in the post code.

If you are receiving Sky OK, you should also get freesat without any problem. It is, however, possible that your dish is slightly out of alignment and is getting a weak signal from Eurobird (which carries freesat's home transponder for the EPG, etc). Even so, if you can receive channels from Eurobird on Sky, it suggests that your receiver is not as sensitive as it could be. That might be a problem with the Grundig box in general or it might be a problem with your particular box. Either way, it would probably be a good idea for you to return the box for replacement before messing around with the dish.

There's also the possibility that you haven't properly connected the dish to the Grundig box, or that the Sky box is interfering with the Grundig box in some strange way. Before returning the box, I suggest you do two things. Firstly, check the connection to the Grundig box and disconnect the Sky box completely. Secondly, check that you can receive the freesat home transponder on the Sky box. You can do this with "Add channels". Select frequency: 11426, Polarisation: H, Symbol rate: 27500 2/3. You should be offered Brit Shorts TV and some radio stations.

gsj06, you have opened 2 threads on this, one here, and one over in the Freesat forum. Easily done if you are new to the forums

Mods: I suggest you merge these into the one in the Freesat forum, as this box is not a Freesat+ PVR.

Rgds.

Les.

Hi awo1949
Interested in your response, so I tried -

"Add channels". Select frequency: 11426, Polarisation: H, Symbol rate: 27500 2/3. You should be offered Brit Shorts TV and some radio stations.
All I got was "No signal found"
I actually am using a Pace Sky+ & a Humax Foxsat HDR & get excellent reception on both !
Did I miss something ?

Ah. That's interesing. I wonder why not. Any problem with that transponder should stop the Foxsat HDR working.

I didn't try it myself as I don't have a Sky box. I have set up "other channels" for other people, but not on that transponder. In theory it should work. Any ideas, anyone?

Obviously, gsj06 can't use this not working as indication of a dish problem. But, on the off chance that it does work for him, it would be an indication of a problem with the Grundig box. He could try Eurobird channels that are on the Sky EPG (e.g. any of the Zone channels, Simply Movies, etc) to check for Eurobird reception, but I thought testing the specific transponder would be best.
