"Good" Old Bush DVHRS02 "WAIT" error.

Hallo All,
This may have been dealt with before but I cannot find it.
It concerns the "good" old Bush DVHRS02 and the "WAIT" error. The combo has been out of use for a while and I decided to make it "Live". I connected all the cables then powered it up. I got an "ON" message on the units LCD screen for about 2 seconds, during which it found the correct channel on the TV, then the LCD screen displayed "WAIT" with three flashing bars after it and I can do nothing with the buttons on the unit or the Remote Control. I contacted Bush Customer Services who, after ascertaining the unit was out of warranty, could not get rid of me fast enough.
Has anyone had the same problem and, more importantly, have they found a cure please.
