Help with old Hi8 tapes
Gadgets78
15-03-2009
I have found some old Hi8 tapes that contains some home movies I would like to transfer to my PC.

After a visit to Maplin, they told me I needed to buy a programme called Dazzle, from Maplin its £40. I also had a look on ebay and they are still changing hands for about £15-£20 before postage.

Normally I wouldnt mind, but its only one tape with about 30 mins in total to transfer. So before I commit to buying something does anyone know of any other method of transferring the movies.

That depends on your definition of "amazing quality" and what you're comparing it to. Hi8 is a vastly inferior standard compared to current commercial broadcast standards, let alone the commercial DVD standard. It is better than VHS though, but then what isn't?!

I guess the OP is looking for one of THESE.
