I thought I use this thread as it has a perfect title!

The main show -

Denise & Maks - She looked fab in that black dress - such weird music though - performance not great - I don't think they are getting on very well together - he hardly looks her in the eye - she lacks so much self confidence.

Chuck & Julianne - More weird music - another great costume - good performance

Holly & Dimitri - Fine until she moves off the spot - what a sulky pouter she is - that giggle - I'd send her home asap

Steve-O & Lacey - Lacey - great costume and choreography Steve-O I am not convinced yet about him

Laurence & Edyta - All I can say is he is a trier

Shawn & Mark - I loved it - my favourite female celeb this series - a fab routine - she's a contender!

Giles & Cheryl - WOW! He is seriously good - but boy does he know it!

David & Kym - Not a lot of foxtrot - a bit like a show dance - needs to knuckle down and just do the actual dance

Steve & Karina - another good try - but it is dreadful to watch

Melissa & Tony - Beautiful dress - very good but not much emotion from her

L'il Kim & Derek - Great performance and I like her a lot

Ty & Chelsie - I love Ty to bits - they are such a fab couple - another good attempt though - I loved it!

The results show -

The two Steves must have some public vote for them both to avoid the dance if again!

Not really surprised at the bottom two couples if the two Steves escaped. I agreed with the judges that Denise improved and for me she did a lot more samba moves (yes the roles were bad) than Holly. I also think Denise would have made more progress in the end - but she clearly didn't click with Maks and he let it show which I thought was bad form on his part. So I guess the result was right for that reason if not for any other.

Denise & Maks - Thought this one of the worst sambas ever, and hated the dress - she looked like she had dressed up as a 10yr old going to a party. Don't think she gets on with Maks and am not surprised -- he is quite a tough pro and, while he doesn't expect everyone to be a great dancer, he hasn't time for those who don't even try and Denise really didn't seem to make any effort.

Chuck & Julianne - He is so stiff, but at least he tries; maybe he feels under more stress with Julianne being his partner and girlfriend?

Holly & Dimitri - I can only think "plastic Barbie" - sorry, but she looked dreadful and the dance was even worse.

Steve-O & Lacey As with Chuck, Steve did try, but I wonder if he has the ability to concentrate? Better choreography by Lacey - at least this time she made it look like the dance it was meant to be! Didn't like the frilly bit on her dress - weird!

Laurence & Edyta I seem to have missed him out of my notes, and as much as I like Edyta, I can't even remember Laurence.

Shawn & Mark This was a foxtrot, beautifully danced. I still can't see Shawn as a gymnast? They are usually so tiny (she is short, but not 'tiny'!)

Giles & Cheryl Definitely the best samba of the night - it was a real samba, with real samba moves. A contender for the final I would think, and I love Cheryl.

David & Kym Didn't do much for me at all, but a good attempt.

Steve & Karina OMG - I have to agree with Carrie-Ann - the novelty has worn off! Karina was obviously overjoyed to fo through, but Steve needs to start at least making some effort - if only for her sake.

Melissa & Tony Best female celeb for me, and a great dance; along with Gilles, a contender for the final.

L'il Kim & Derek The girl can move that's for sure, but as a samba it didn't work for me.

Ty & Chelsie I really admired the way he lifted Chelsie to her feet when she slipped, and managed to carry on. Having said that, he needs to improve his dancing if he wants to go much further. I felt the reason Chelsie slipped was her dress was too long, and when she lowered and took a back step, she trod on the hem.


Dance-wise I thought Steve (with Karina) should have been in the bottom 2, but he did try to be entertaining!

Other than him, I thought the right 2 were at the bottom, though I think I would probably have eliminated Holly. I don't know why, maybe Maks' reaction, but I did sort of get the impression Denise wanted out and maybe it was 'arranged' that way? Probably not - just a feeling.

The more I think about Denise & Maks the more I think the problem was Denise couldn't have fun learning to dance.

She clearly wanted to do well and I think she was trying very hard, but she was trying so hard she couldn't loosen up and enjoy the experience. I think that's what Maks found frustrating - he couldn't get her to loosen up. That's hard on both of them.

I live in the States so I get to see this live & I have to say while Holly is not that good she seems to be trying & having fun. She takes the criticism for what it is & even if she doesn't improve you can't say she's not trying. I'd hardly call her sulky like anyone else who is in that position I see her getting frustrated with herself for not being able to pick up the steps but on show night the effort is there even if she falls short. I like her & I know she won't be on long but I'm enjoying her for the time being.

I'm not sure about what watching the show live has to do with things?

I called Holly sulky (and pouty) because in the VT before she danced last night that is exactly how she came over to me, in fact I thought she was actually going to stamp her foot at one point! It sounds like what I saw as a sulky moment you saw as frustration, but there are lots of ways of expressing frustration! I didn't say I didn't like her or that she wasn't trying hard or that she wasn't putting in the effort. Her giggle drives me mad as well, but I send her home because she can't dance!

I felt sorry for Denise. She clearly has self-confidence issues and the bloke she was dancing with was hardly helping with his macho/bad boy attitude.


Given another more supportive partner I think she had much more potential than Holly.

I know a lot of people are supporters of Maks and will stick up for him, but I agree 100% with Magpie11.

She needs to come on SCD and be taken under the wing of a pro like Ian, Darren or Anton!

As much as I love Maks and I'm gutted he's out I have to agree that Denise wasn't the right partner for him - he needs someone with some fight in them and Denise clearly isn't like that. I'd have loved to have seen her with someone like Tony or Jonathan - I think she could have gone a lot further with a pro who'd nurture her and Maks doesn't really do that - although I have to say him in his pink dress was hilarious!

He looked amazing in the pink Carmen Miranda get up - fab!

I think that is precisely the reason he clicked with Mel B. She never took any of his S*%# and stood up to him from day 1. I think the first thing she said was "you're cocky and full of yourself." He loved it! He loved her confidence and she was easy learner.

When he and Mel had that fall out and he went to London with her he came back a changed man. I think she let him know she was not going crumble and cry with his tough style of teaching. I think he gained respect for her. I doubt he will ever luck out with a partner like that again. Maks is a great dancer and with the right partner it's magic. No milquetoasts need apply.

I agree - a pro like Anton or Ian or Jonathan would have been a much better fit for Denise. As I understand it, she requested Maks because she like the bad boys.

I don't think we should forget that these celebs are supposed to be professionals in their own right, and I haven't too much patience with those who can't cope with someone who has a tough way of teaching.

Basically, I think some of them need to be less precious about themselves; think of their increasing bank balance, and get on with it.

I agree, but I doubt if we agree about which celebs we are referring too!

I'd say Denise was acting like a pro by being serious about wanting to get things right when learning to dance. In fact if she was on SCD, she would probably have been praised for being that way inclined. Denise didn't strike me as been precious or a 'difficult' person or like a diva or anything like that.

A good teacher adapts to their pupil and the pro dancers are there to teach their celeb to dance after all.

Maks is coming across to me as the Brendan Cole of DWTS. Remember how he was with some of his less able partners? He didn't just get his bad boy rep from breaking the rules, but for how he can treat his celeb at times.

Personally I don't think Denise realised just how tough it would be. I have a feeling she thought it would come easy to her (kind of like Brooke Burke last year) but when it didn't she lost confidence and as we know Maks doesn't nurture his partners as such.

If she did ask for Maks then she should have known what he was like and what to expect - if you can't take the heat......

You could be right. As a fan of the show may be she did specifically ask for Maks, although if she is not popular with the public I can see this being a negative rumour (unless of course she can be quoted! ).

I guess that's one thing we'll never know.

I think Hollyweird must make some celebs more precious than others for sure! Over here we'd tell them to just get on with it (or at least their pro would!)!

Absolutely, and so they should! Come to think of it, there's been very few overly-precious celebs in scd.... just the odd one or two.

And we spotted them straight away on the SCD board where they were not very popular at all!

I agree she should have know, I don't think she was anyway near committed enough. I also think Maks gave up on her pretty quickly. That samba was atrocious and a lot of it had to do with the choreography.

It's going to be hard to pair Maks up with anyone because of his teaching style and I think that's how he got stuck with Denise. It was probably Denise or nothing lol. I also read Nancy asked for Tony. I can't imagine Jewel being paired with him because she is quite timid.

Loved Gilles and Cheryl's samba this week, it's been a long time since I really enjoyed a samba on SCD/DWTS. Cheryl's choreography really used the music to it's fullest. Shawn and Mark's foxtrot was also very elegant, I didn't think she could pull it off but that was the best ballroom of the night IMO.

On the vt clip it seemed to me that Denise was the one giving up before she had even given it a go. Can't give decent choreography to someone who says "I can't do it....." at every little step.

I agree about Gilles & Cheryl's samba, certainly one of the best - as you say - from both dwts & scd. Cheryl is one of favourite pros from the show.

Suprisingly Maks posted on his forum that he was totally happy with how she danced in rehearsals. But she fell apart with nerves on showday.
Those samba rolls were dire, especially when she was left lying on top of him and I was left wondering why he put them in. There's a rehearsal video on poptv and it pretty much looked the same and I think that was the night before showday. And the ending was just walking into nothing...kind of like oh we're finished now lets walk to get our scores.
Holly and Denise had similar dance ability but Dmitry's routine looked more appealing because the choreography was more lively

I have to agree but how much of that was down to the rhythm of the music - Maks and Denise's music was probably one of the worst samba beats I've ever heard and I felt sorry for them trying to dance anything like a decent samba to it. Holly's music certainly had more of a beat for her to follow.
