hi the box has to have HDR 1080i hdmi ,olso for the future the eathernet for windows media center could be handy to my xbox360 & pc "which format ?" , with usb external hard drive support ,and 5.1 output , easy to use planer.

? are the HD none r boxes better supported with external harddrives ,a fraction of the price
many thanks

There are a number of FTA receivers available which will allow recording to an external HDD. Generally, they are single tuner models. In fact, some receivers with integral disks only have a single tuner. If you want to watch one channel while recoring another, a dual tuner is essential.

Further, be a little wary of the EPG you get with some of these boxes. Generally, it will not be the freesat EPG. It may be a seven day EPG, but it will be from a different source and may lack some of the features supported by the authentic freesat EPG (e.g. series record and accurate record). On the plus side, they may provide a seven day EPG for some channels that are not available on the freesat EPG. If this is what you want, they should be fine for you, but it may be worth your while looking into exactly what you'll be getting.

Have a look at this thread.
